I’ll never understand how a guy can lose once or twice or look bad and people are calling for him to retire, yet there’s journeymen out there with double digit losses still being fed to up coming prospects & nobody says anything.

Idk what Verdejos future is in this sport but there’s always room for improvement. He’s shown he can improve and against Nakatani he looked great til he didn’t. Stamina & pacing yourself can be fixed. It’s not like he’s been out here taking life altering beatings like a John Molina or Brandon Rios.

Imagine if Manny Pacquaio had retired after taking his 3rd loss (ko) to lackluster competition. Obviously Verdejo is no Manny Pacquaio, but there was a time when Manny wasn’t even Manny if that makes sense lol. Long story short give these guys a chance. If Arum matches Verdejo carefully I think he can win a belt and get a big money unification fight but I don't see Verdejo beating anyone in the top 5 at lightweight because he gets hurt easily when he's fatigued and he doesn't recover well
