Verdejo is Puerto Rican. That's the only way Arum knows how to promote.

Yeah he can potentially still have a good career. Matchmaking is important in boxing and Verdejo needs to work on some things.

Verdejo impressed me for 5 rounds against Nakatani. He's a warrior. He and Loma can do loser leave boxing kinda deal.

arum can pay Verdejo peanuts but has to pay Crawford millions. Not the same scenario. Crawford leaving top rank would be best for all involved anyway.

He got TKO'd by a guy coming out of retirement who hadn't fought in a year and a half. This wasn't the best version of Nakatani. Put Verdejo in there with any live body and he loses.

Im surprised Arum is still running things day to day and making the the deals. Guy is 89 now. I thought he was going to be dead 10 years ago.

Verdejo would have to wait for a while for a rematch. Nakatani has a broken orbital bone from the fight, needs healing time and saltwater

You nailed it - THAT is what keeps him "alive" in all senses of the word - a strong purpose in life and camaraderie.

That and smoking weed according to him.

I hope he’s not done. It seems that the accident took something out of Verdejo. Respect to both Verdejo and Nakatani. They put on an amazing performance.
