That amateur background can also be a disadvantage. It's a lot of miles on the body. Doesn't matter that they're 3 rounds, that **** adds up. Well GGG wasn't fortunate to be signed to a huge promotional company like Top Rank or Goldenboy. The beginning part of his professional career was halted due to ****ty Universum and essentially turned pro again when he finally got exposure on HBO. I do think Loeffler and HBO could've tried harder but he was pretty much a cheap commodity that was paying good returns for HBO. By the time he started getting good money and there was enough reward for the risk, he was already approaching mid 30's. Easy to look back in hindsight and say he should've done this or that.

I respect Lomanchenko. GGG was a ***** his whole career man. I’ve been saying this ever since he was negotiating the canelo fight. We could have gotten it sooner, same results IMO. Ppl are soft with Golovkin he’s like the favorite child who grows up soft cuz your always making things easy for him

Yeah we could've got the fight sooner if Canelo had ****ed around with Smith, Khan and Chavez. How would the result have been the same if Canelo would've been even further from his best and Golovkin been younger? Yeah **** Golovkin because he/his team negotiated a good deal to fight Canelo in what clearly was the biggest fight for both. You're something else man.

He should be blaming himself for letting a junior middleweight come up to his division and walk him down for 12 rounds. He should be blaming himself for not giving everything he had in the biggest fight of his life. Dude was supposed to be the terminator. The guy who smashes his opponents to Oblivion. Canelo gave him the Mexican style fight he asked for and he turned into Paulie malignaggi.

A lot of golovkin fans just can't accept the fact that he didn't rise to the occasion in the biggest fights of his life. He got a gift vs jacobs. Got beaten down by canelo. Then beaten down again by chenko. That canelo rematch took 20 years off his life. He shoulda went in there and fought instead of trying to jab his way to victory. Golovkin always wanted to be Mexican, but in the biggest fight of his life he turned into a cuban. It's a damn shame.

By saying this was Canelos biggest fight it’s like your ignoring the fact that Canelo sold 1 million ppvs vs Chavez 6 months prior to ggg, a fight that btw Chavez was paid a flat fee so for all we know Canelo could have made more off Chavez JR. As far as the negotiating and gggs prime that is your accesment that ggg was past his prime not mine. I believe it had more to do with step up in competition. Good arguments tho. Fair play chap

Physical prime is one thing but boxing IQ and experience is another. Canelo didn’t have a 400 ameture fight advantage like ggg. GGG was no Lomachenko and it’s his fault for not stepping out of his comfort zone earlier.

He offered fights to Canelo and Eubank earlier - they turned it down. BJS wasn't keen on fighting him either until the last year or two. His objective was to unify 160lb division, who was there to dance with him to make him leave his comfort zone? You can't step out of your comfort zone by shadow boxing when good fighters turn their noses away. He was an avoided fighter during his prime and that's a fact.

You mean Canelo, right? Because if there is one boxer who always has a cushion around him it is Canelo. 118-110, whole WBC at his disposal and etc..

Look at George Foreman in the 90s.

GGG still has that punch on him but he's beatable without a doubt. Specially since Canelo took a bit of his soul.

Marquez, Floyd, Pacquiao, Klitchko, Hopkins all did great past 37. In my opinion most of these fighters except for Floyd had rougher fights as well. So as easy as gggs competition was the age argument isn’t very strong

All of those guys are all-time great fighters. 90% of athletes are not in their prime after their early 30s.

Those guys are exceptions, not the rule.

That's why they're all-time greats.

It's almost as if the body naturally slows down as you age. Some guys here apparently don't get that.

HAHAHA exactly. People act as though they've cured cancer by pointing out a nearly 39 year old fighter is "past his prime."
