I thought GGG won both fights.I thought he won 8 rounds to 4 the first fight and won 7 rounds to 6 ln the 2nd fight. Canelo gets the generous scoring in Vegas. In the 2nd fight Canelo was 27 years old and GGG was 36 years old. That is a big youth advantage for Canelo. I think Canelo is a great fighter now but I think GGG was a better fighter just not as popular. The prime GGG KOed 22 top 10 contenders or champions in a row. Nobody else fighting today can match that.

It's really an interesting situation

On one hand - I think Canelo's only real flaw as a boxer, is his lack of stamina/workrate, and maybe lack of elite foot speed. But he has great reflexes, quickness, combo punching, power, defense, chin. He has no real big holes. His talent is legit.

However - on the other hand - there are questions about how legitimate his talent is, as far as the PEDs go. A lot of guys are probably doping, I imagine. You do just feel like Canelo has access to better stuff, or different rules by which he has to abide by.

And then you have the judging in some of his fights. The Trout open scoring, the Lara fight was close, GGG fights, Jacobs was competitive, Kovalev scoring before the KO. You just feel like Canelo has a very low bar to clear as far as getting a round in a fight.

That also makes it easier for him to take certain fights. When you know you don't have to excel to win rounds, it makes it easy to take on certain fights. You know a 7-5 loss will be a 7-5 or 8-4 win for you. It frees you up in the ring, and out of the ring, as far as what matchups you can make.

And then there is some of the weight stuff. He had his own weight class for some odd reason. He has put some odd clauses on opponents too.

I think his talent is legit. But I think he has had a lot of 'help' to get to the status he is currently at. To be fair, most big stars end up getting that help for whatever reason. Stars get the cards, and make the rules. Always been that way.

I don't think he got favorable judging vs Danny. Two judges had it 7-5 and one 6-6. I think Harold Lederman had it 6-6. But I thought the first 10 rounds were easy to score.

Eyeonthering is a website that collects fan scorecards. It's a great resource and the average scorecard has GGG winning, but it's far from as "clear" as you suggest.

Boxingscene scored the fight 6-6 with the KD being the difference. Although you suggest the first 9 rounds were "easy to score" Boxingscene saw 3 of those rounds differently (1, 3, 7) than you as well as rounds 11 and 12. I guess you know more than Boxingscene now, huh?

Fair to get on him for not stopping once Danny, Sergei, or Canelo in those 4 fights. Fair to say he could have performed better in those 4 fights if he is to be as highly considered as some make him out to be. I think the rest of his resume was solid enough. Most fighters, even greats, have slip ups when you have 10-15 fights against solid pro fighters. GGG never had any against the other guys, all dominant wins. That is impressive to me. Compare it to anyone you want, most guys all-time can't say that.
