Agree. Unless he managed to get himself in a mandatory position, I doubt that Joshua (or Hearn) would want that fight. Joshua probably just paying a bit of lip service to Ruiz saying he would entertain a third fight.

If it did happen, expect a similar performance to Joshua Ruiz 2 from AJ. No way Joshua would want to meet Ruiz on the inside knowing that he can put together some fast accurate combinations.

If Fury Wilder 3 HAS to happen, Joshua v Usyk is only a good thing for Joshua and for HW boxing. Its the other HW that people want to see against Fury or Joshua, really.

      Fury
      Usyk
      Wilder

Whyte rematch (they fought when both upcoming)
      Joyce
      Dubois
      Ortiz

Clearly Joyce and Dubois have work to do to get into position and Whyte has to beat povetkin too, but if he fights twice a year the above fights could take 3 years. Things may change in that time but I struggle to see Ruiz getting a rematch earlier than that at the moment, partially because Joshua basically beat him 12-0
All of these fights are much more exciting than Ruiz. He, along with Whyte and Dubois, need to get a big win in to rebuild and show they deserve to be in a PPV champ fight.

Ortiz is just way too old and past it now. He’ll be gatekeeper status soon.

I was surprised to see the clip of AJ knocking down Ruiz during the Pulev PPV. Its funny to see that knowing what happened right after that! LOL.

Ruiz is 31. He needs a big fight in the next 12-18 months to really get another title shot where he can be close to his best/prime. Looking at the rankings, Usyk or Hunter would be a good step towards getting back into a mando spot, IMO.
