Huge result for Nakatani. He can make a name for himself if he keeps this kind of form up.

I felt like he was thinking about answering in English, then decided to go with Japanese.

Or just considering his answers deeply: "It's my job -- I'll knock him out in five."

I felt Nakatani would win but thought it would go the dist. I knew Lopez didn't do badly against Nakatani, just Nakatani is extremely tough mentally and physically. This will boost his popularity a lot.

Verdejo got in a bad accident, motorcycle i think, is why he was away for a min
Nah. that accident gets exaggerated so much. He didn't hurt his head and was in and out of the hospital in less than a day.

Boxing wants a Puerto Rican star so badly...someone like Hector “Macho” Camacho, Felix Trinidad, Edwin Rosario, but Verdejo will never be it

I remember watching Verdejo 6 years ago thinking he's the future of the sport, I thought that skills were everything, he's a prime example of that not being the case, you need to be able to take a punch mentally, physically, inside and outside the ring and I judged him before seeing him get tested. Big mistake. That's why I never rush to rank anyone anymore.

This win over Nakatani would only get better for Teo Lopez.

Verdejo trying his best but fell short. Appreciate his persistence to be star but it seems he will never be...

Just watched on the a.m catchup, great fight. Verdejo showing the vulnerabilities we kinda knew about but mad respect to Nakatani for biting down after the early KDs... big heart. Ain't super skilled but he's decent and got that will to win that can take a dude a long way.
