LMFAO! The WBC does whatever it wants and no one cares

I have no complaints over a governing body putting a vacant major title on the line for the champion of a weight class vs another top 5 fighter of that weight class. WBC and all other sanctioning bodies are more of a business than anything else. Except maybe IBF, which is still technically a business, but they at least follow their own rules and don’t edit them depending on the popularity of a fight or the money involved.
So yes WBC is opportunistic and very obviously corrupt, but in this case they are being corrupt for the best fighter of 168 (Smith) vs a top 5 fighter of 168 (Canelo).
I’m not going to pretend to care about sanctioning bodies own rankings. I’ve always hated them and they suck. For example WBC has Benavidez at #1, Yildrim at #2, David Lemieux as #3 ranked and Jacobs #5.
Yildrim isn’t even a top 10 LHW. Jacobs is barely top 10. Lemieux has done nothing, anywhere, in a long time and is somehow #9 in The Ring.
Sanctioning body rankings are the main reason why we get champions vs nobodies. And have paper champions. And two unknowns fighting for major titles.
So I won’t sit here and protect sanctioning bodies rankings when I think they bs to begin with.Comment
