First and far most important in my opinion; eye test is some noob ****. Vets have failed this forum and newer fans. This 2015 sign up reckons his eyes mean something in an ATG debate.Straight up criticizing us for disregarding the eye test
It's not primitive just because it's different. Boxers fight the way they do because of market demands. When movement was seen as cowardly and hard to promote hardly anyone moved much. Now it's smart and talented so folks try a lot more.
Dempsey is not a dude I go to bat for often but Dempsey was highly skilled in his arts. Just because you don't like it or because modern rules are less conducive to it does not mean he did not do what he was trained to do. A prime Dempsey flattens most in his own era.
ATG is not fantasy H2H. Marciano and Dempsey may not be you favorite guys to look at, but they've killer stats and so always present in top 20s, usually top 10s. In Marciano's case if the judge is a computer program Marciano is top 5. Boxrec, Mike Paul, some 70s reel computer in Bama, etc. because compuers love numbers and are not swayed by eye tests.Comment

Professional boxing these days, at elite level can be a constant feeling out process. And this does kind of seem to be getting worst year upon year. The lower the level in skill usually produced more action packed fights.
If people are honest with themselves, Alvarez vs Bivol was not a all-time great fight. People where underwhelmed with the fight really.
Alvarez was getting beat, must of known that he needed to get a knock - out or at-least force the fight. But still he did nothing, this is mainly due to him lacking gears and having under par endurance.
There are two things happening simultaneously during a boxing match. A fight and a boxing match. On average past fighters seemed to better fighters which is a skill in itself.

The biggest innovation was in Robinson era.Comment

Robinson, Ali and Pep look modern on the film. Since 1950s, 1960s there are some changes but these changes are minimal. Pre-Robinson era had some ATGs like Greb, Langford, Gans, Tunney, Dempsey, Benny Leonard etc.. those guys are caveman level.
