Yea shyt for brains, its really hard grasping the concept that a guy who fought in the 1920s @ 190 pounds with CLEARLY NO SKILL, would lose to a guy 240 pound C+ fighter who fought in the 90s.

There's not an athlete AN ANY SPORT who did something in the 1920s 30s or 40s, would would be legit in the 90s.

Jack Dempsey was fking horrible and so were his opponents.

Oh, the boys in history can tell you I love me a good Dempsey dig, and yes Dempsey's whole mystique is centered around eye test from 100 years ago. None of us seen him, nor did our fathers, lucky to have a gran alive who can claim it.

However, the rest of your point is sad because you've little understanding of the sport in that era. Before you judge how well they perform you have to learn what it is they're trying to perform. The greats of ye old are very good at what they mean to be good at. The kids today are not trying to be good at what their grandfather's grandfather used to do. Has nothing to do with better technique and everything to do with different rules.

In 1920 Dempsey bodies AJ. Today AJ bodies Dempsey. Which could adapt better to other's timeframe is the best question to ask yourself. In this case, I dunno, kinda lean Joshua.

This is one of my favorite explanations.

Here I've spent some considerable amount of time researching guys I've never heard of to figure out what their deal is and where **** came from. I can answer where boxing came from probably to the best depth any forum poster here can.

But **** that being impressed by the **** anyone in the past did. I'm romanticizing with eras so far beyond my own I can't possibly relate.

That makes sense to you? It's absolutely absurd. I romanticize Tyson's era because that's when I were young. I ****ing learn history and tell you mugs about it. There's a massive difference. For every great some ******* pulls out of 1890 there's thousands not worth mention. If we just romanticized it'd be us saying **** like "any c level blah blah blah" but we don't. We tell you who is great while you ****** **** romanticize with your childhood talking about c level 90s like the uneducated dumb****s ya're.

Maybe if we're talking fighters pre 1930s but mid 1930s early 40s skill level improved a ton in boxing. Sugar Ray Robinson, Ezzard Charles, Archie Moore, Joe Louis, Willie Pep, Billy Conn. Jersey Joe Walcott, Henry Armstrong.Their skills and talent passes the test of time.

every era has people who box fight it out for money and prizes

there is no way of knowing if u took these people out and trained them like they do now how they would do

some would do great and some not so good

they fight the way they do back then because thats what earned them money

just because now boxers download menus from the web and have full time advice on everything doesn't make them better athletes lets say pound for pound if all things were equal, plus add in peds too, which lets face it are very popular and have been for a long time

I agree, thats why I said in one of my post the FIRST HEAVYWEIGHT to have modern day skill was Floyd Paterson, he was just small.

Louis, Moore, Charles were the beginning of the skill increase, but I still don't think they had modern day Skill.
