Comments Thread For: Joshua Once Helped Klitschko Prepare For Pulev, Now He Must Fight Pulev Himself

The world he'd entered in the paid ranks after conquering the amateur world and capturing Olympic gold was ruled by Wladimir Klitschko, who was deep into his second run as heavyweight champion, approaching all-time ti...

After this book Joshua vs Fury. It is too big not to make. That's if Joshua wins?

AJ outboxed for 12 rounds , a really good performance. If you want to hate on him for that - then there will be other fighters such as Tyson fury and mayweather you obviously hate too ? They do much more of that style than AJ ever has?

Ignoring those such as above, who aren’t proper boxing fans.. onto the fight.

This will be a good test, Pulev is a top fighter still, clearly an underdog but still a tough opponent. If you consider the opponents wilder, fury and, whyte , etc have had - I don’t think any of them have beaten 3 opponents tougher than Pulev?

That said, Joshua will be a strong favourite and actually AJ’s own CV is much stronger and broader so you would probably not consider him one of his very toughest. Does that leave any complacency? I think it probably doesn’t because of the Ruiz situation which will be right on his mind.

The only man to really destroy Pulev was Klitschko who was very effective with quick straight punches, something I wouldn’t necessarily say Joshua does. I suspect he will take a similar approach though in trying to start with the jab and go in with a few quick combinations over the course of maybe round 2-4. I think he will be knocking him out somewhere between round 4-6 personally.

Unfortunatey so. That's the new AJ, leveraging on his incredible conditioning to escape from any threat, but giving a terrible show to fans. He knows his chin is his weak point and he needs to avoid any serious blow. Pulev at 39 is slower (never was very fast) and I see a match with Pulev firmly in the middle of the ring trying to catch the jumping'n'jabbing AJ.

We can only hope in a lucky blow.

Not going happen. He adopted that approach against Ruiz because of Ruiz having the fastest hands in the division. He's dangerous if you hang around and let him get his combinations off. Stay out of his reach, don't give him time to set and he's nullified because his feet aren't as fast.

AJ needs to win this fight and forget about looking good. He's got a weak chin, he can't afford to try to bulldoze anyone half-decent

From what I remember, AJ boxed beautifully off that back foot and made Ruiz look like he didn’t belong in there with him. This so called “running” makes it look as if you don’t know any better.
