Comments Thread For: Artur Beterbiev-Joe Smith: Arum, DeGuardia Aim For Unification Showdown

If Top Rank chairman Bob Arum's plan comes to fruition three of the four major light heavyweight world title belts will be unified in the first half of 2021. There is a three-fight plan in place to make it happen, Arum told BoxingScene.

C'mon! You knew Arum wasn't just gonna give you Smith vs Beterbiev, right?

I'm not completely sure about Smith Jr winning against Vlasov.

They're talking about barring people who dont take it from public events. But it doesn't make a bit of sense since they are already saying the vaccine reduces symptoms but doesn't reduce contagiousness. So what difference does it make where you go without one?

It's definitely not a gimme fight. Vlasov is as tough as they get and he has decent boxing skills.

I would favor Joe but could see him getting outboxed in stretches. I think his physicality and strength would wear Vlasov down and Joe would win a close but clear UD.

As much as I like Smith Jr, I tend to think that his last win against Eleider Alvarez was more a case of the latter being shot than anything else...

Good Fight BUT Joe Smith can be inconsistent so he has to actually WIN the WBO Belt first

I think Alvarez looked flat but Joe was also doing some nice boxing in there. I wasn't a big believer in Jesse Hart but I think you saw some Joe's improvements in that fight too.

Vlasov is very solid but has lost when he's stepped up. His best wins are probably Duradola, Chakkiev and the rematch against a faded Chilemba. Who knows, maybe Vlasov outboxes Joe.

I don't think Smith beats Beterbiev but I do think he poses a danger to Artur that no other LHW can. Smith is tough as nails and durable plus he throws some serious leather. He might be able to survive long enough to land something on Beterbiev and crack that chin.

Nice. Could have some excellent fights coming up at LHW. I hope this gets made.

Ah, yes - completely agreed on this whole analysis. If Callum Johnson managed to shake Beterbiev, Smith Jr knocks him spark out if he catches him in the sweet spot.

                    Still, it's hard for Joe...
