I was discussing with a friend after the Dubois v Joyce fight how the jab is the most important punch in boxing and if you lack that fundamental you can flatter to deceive but will usually struggle at the highest level.
I put heavy money on groves against Eubank because of groves jab, despite Eubank being the younger, more athletic, durable and faster fighter, he’s a lesser fighter because he lacks the fundamentals.

I'd like to see Yarde vs Buatsi. Buatsi will give Yarde more opportunities to land more because he comes forward. More exciting fight for sure. Buatsi was tagged cleanly in his last fight.

I had a big bet on Groves for exactly the same reason.

He had a great jab IMO, was his best weapon.

Groves fell short of elite level fighter but he had n elite level jab. Ramrod stiff, rangefinder for right hand, throwing it out there to disrupt the opponents flow, great variety and boxing IQ to know when throw which. World class jab propelled him to the career he had.

Back to Madrid against 4-48-3 type opponents. Gotta build that confidence back up again.

He was comedy gold man. Just used to abuse referees in between rounds. What a character.
