IMHO its because it's the only way for these cards to come off.
im not saying you are wrong...but im not sure you are right in every situation that it was "the only way"

like is said...tank had sold 12k in seats in two different cities..headlined a few showtime cards...and was chief support to a ppv that did over 2 million buys....getting tank on ppv was always the plan and it was time...i dont think it was because thats the only way the santa cruz fight was profitable...it was just the next step for him and theyve always been gearing him towards it

who else is doing ppvs besides the pbc? basically nobody unless were talking about a joint promo like fury/wilder....pbc are the only ones doing them because they still believe in the model IMO...they still believe it works and could be profitable.....spence has been doing pretty well with it the last two times out....and the garcia fight certainly warrants it....

i dont know how successful the tank or charlo ppvs were....and they could reverse course in the future....but i think the pbc believes the model still works if you build the demand...

I think budget. When have u ever seen a guy take 3 big fights in a year it's mostly 1big fight and 2 stay busy fights.

I always thought guys who can't stay in shape should fight x3 a year. Like Brandon Rios before the end of his career

Yea man for sure...I'm not looking to be right or wrong here, just stating what my opinion on what's going on here with the OP's original question....and yea, tank is who you exactly try to build into a ppv machine,exciting/powerful young cat albeit with a thin resume. Dont believe either of those PPV cards did that well. Hopefully that"ll influence floyd/haymon/ellerbee...whoever it is,to have them step up in class and fight the other top fighters across the pond so to speak. If not, cant see them doing anymore than 200k buys from here on out.

I remember when top boxers and champions often had 4 fights a year. Hagler defended his title 3 or 4 times a year in a couple of years. It never hurt any boxer that I know of. Three evenly space fights a year is one fight every 4 months leaving lots of time for a boxer to rest and recover.
