Is it already time for the annual ‘give Martin Murray a title shot’ fight again?

Difference was Lockridge won belts. Murray keeps getting chance after chance because he has good promoters, gives an honest effort but doesn't have any power, so not a big threat. The fact that he's getting another title fight says more about Saunders' willingness to piss away the prime of his career

Martin Murray's the closest I've got to a world-famous fighter from my hometown (sort of, it's ambiguous whether he's from the next town over or not) but even then I just can't get excited from watching his fights. He fights from behind a really strong guard but his offensive output is pretty below par. This has only become more true as he's gotten older and his output has dropped, it's just more guarding and less punching. He exists in that weird zone where little the opponent does has any effect on him but he does very little himself. In that scenario you ultimately have to give the edge to the more active and aggressive fighter which explains why he's been on the wrong end of so many close decisions and also explains why he's been in more than his fair share of dull fights. I'd really like to see Saunders get beat, but Murray's not the guy to do it. Saunders will just run rings around him while throwing a bunch of light punches that'll mostly just bounce off Murray's guard, but Murray won't be able to land enough back to take any rounds or do any damage. Saunders will showboat and act like an arsehole for the entire fight but other than that nothing exciting will happen. I really hope I'm wrong, if I am it'll probably be the happiest I've ever been to be wrong

He's done well for himself, overachieved if anything to be fair considering how late he turned pro. Unlucky not to pick up a belt.

He deserves extra credit for getting in there with a prime GGG but more so his fight in Argentina with Martinez, very dangerous circumstances for a British fighter to go over and fight over there on the Falklands anniversary. He was lucky to get away from there in one piece . He probably shaded that fight too

Murray was robbed by Martinez. Murray then robbed Sergey Khomitsky. Nick Blackwell was then robbed by Khomitsky. Blackwell was then beaten by Chris Eubank Jr. And then Chris Eubank Jr was beaten by Billy Joe Saunders. Therefore Billy Joe Saunders is currently the real lineal middle weight champ. So it all came back 360. Murray is fighting for the lineal title for the second time.

Whoever wrote this is lying big time about Lockeidge on the Chavez fight, it was a one sided whopping in favor of Chavez.

Eddie's always talking about making great fights but he's got a handful of middleweights and super middleweights who won't fight each other. He's probably also trying to stay away from matching them against each other before fans are allowed back to maximize his profits.

Oh ****. I got my timeline mixed up. I guess Eubank Jr is the lineal champ right now.

Although arguably Ryota Murata is the lineal champ if you don' think Khomitsky robbed Blackwell.
