Frank Warren logic: All boxers are brave so quitting is fine!

Frank Warren brought up Anthony Ogogo as a reason why Daniel Dubois should have quit.

    What?

A freak incident is the reason Dubois should have quit?

Maybe he should have tried to win instead of thinking about everything that could go wrong because that’s what boxers do.

Patrick Day died, so everyone has a reason to quit if they’re getting roughed up a bit in the ring.

That’s going to be my excuse the next time someone quits:

“All boxers are brave. I mean, Patrick Day died. So quitting is fine!”

My feeling is if a fighter doesn’t want to continue fighting, then get out of the ring.

But we shouldn’t sugarcoat things and say they didn’t quit if they did.

I have absolutely no problem if a fighter wants to quit, but I think they’re going to have a hard road in boxing if they take a Knee and get counted out at the first signs of adversity.

We have every right to question their heart within the context of boxing.

Deontay Wilder was still fighting back and 100% wanted to continue, when the fight was stopped against Tyson Fury II.

That is why there needs to be a third fight.

Daniel Dubois made a calculated decision, he had fought long enough with the injury and decided to end the fight 'But his corner really should of stopped the fight, protecting him from this kind of abuse he is now receiving'.

It was good that Dubois spoke for himself, after the fight ringside 'Those where positive signs from him'.

I have no problem with someone quitting to save their health. Dubois has to come back stronger though.
If someone comes back from adversity in the long run, that's a far greater achievement than surviving those 12 rounds.

Gameness is on levels, very few are really really game less than 5%, they say there is only three species where true to the death deep gameness is a thing, Fighting Roosters, Pit Dogs and Man. Joe Corvino was a famous breeder of Pit Dogs 100 yrs ago, he had a saying " do not be surprised when a dog quits the battle, be surprised when he stays for the killing" .

Who are we to judge and look down on somebody that quits if we are untested.

I have zero issues with any boxer quitting, it’s their career and life. But you just know DDD would get a backlash in the manner which it was done. And the thing is am even skeptical about his team coming out on the same night and telling us he had his orbital socket broken. Because usually that isn’t confirmed until you get to an eye hospital and you are examined by a specialist.

I can agree with that and ultimately there are consequences for every choice. For example, Israel Vasquez quit with a broken nose against Rafael Marquez in the first fight of their trilogy.

Plenty of people called him a quitter yet he came back to win the 2nd and 3rd fights in epic fashion. Unfortunately Vasquez ended up losing his right eye due to the accumulation of damage from those wars.

I say all that to say that there are consequences no matter what. You could lose an eye by "going out on your shield" or you could quit and lose the respect of fans who won't be there to help with medical bills. Either way there are consequences.
