First off anywhere you look places Wilder with a net worth of around 30 million. Certainly nothing to sneeze at but let's keep things in perspective. Lifestyle burns that kind of money up real quick, as does having eight kids from FOUR different women...

Now that that's out of the way many people define "success" many different ways. Unfortunately these days so many people define it by your wallet. Bottom line is I make a normal salary and I'm sure I'm more at peace with myself and who I am than Deontay Wilder is. I'm sure I'm also surrounded by (and choose to surround myself with) people who actually give a 5hit about me (he seems to have immediately fired the only person who isn't a leaching yes-man in his circle). And you couldn't pay me enough to be in his shoes. The man has become the laughing stock of an entire sport. And it's all because of his big dumb mouth and 5hitty delusional attitude, not because of his skills or lack of them. Regardless of what anyone says or thinks the man rose to be a World Champion. Sure some champions are better than others but he was still World Champ. He should carry himself as such in victory and defeat. Instead he acts like an immature baby playing the crybaby victim card who jumps up and down like a little spoiled child making all those ridiculous excuses. Crazy how there really is no shame at all in his defeat in the ring but more than enough to go around simply because of how he acts outside of it.

forbes had wilder earning 30.5 mil in 2019 and 46.5 in 2020....you cant name me another american born, active, boxer who has touched that kind of money in their career

wilders attitude and mouth helped earn that money...at the end of the day he could care less what you or i think of him....he has money that can keep his great grand kids comfy if its managed right

how you "act" plays a part in how recognized you are....bud crawford has 0 personality and his promoter is crying about he cant sell nothing and theyre losing money...they dont talk about bud in the casual press the way wilder was....when bob was trying to sell floyd as the clean cut all american kid it wasnt maximizing floyds potential....too many of you get caught up in wilders circus act believing its all real....youre entitled to believe its all real if you want...i dont buy it all....he sells himself...

i know guys who have sat behind floyd at fights and say he was one of the coolest and most humble guys theyve met and how he loved to talk about the fight game.....yet when hes on camera he would give off the air that it would be beneath him to talk to a common boxing fan....wilder acting how he does helped him attain a level of wealth

its amazing that wilder, with his lack of skills, has gotten as far as he did.....just like its amazing that floyd, with his lack of true exciting style, made all the money and sold all the ppvs he did.....some of you get caught up in thinking all of its real

again...your disdain for wilder(whatever your true reason for this is) doesnt allow you see anything clearly....wilder, even after getting his arse kicked, is still a top 3 name in the division....hes still a big name...he wont have to BEG anyone who isnt fury or AJ...they will want to fight him provided the money is right....i still think he can get a fury fight next year.....i did have the belief that if wilder didnt take an immediate rematch with fury it would freeze him out of the title picture for some time...i no longer hold that belief...i think wilder is confident his "management" will get him back in the picture...i think the rematch not happening already, or being scheduled, is because neither side really wants its right now to due to the obvious issues....wilder was patient waiting for fury for some time when wilder wanted an immediate rematch after the first fight....i think it will work out for wilder and hell get another crack if hes patient and handles his biz in the meantime

it is disappointing...id love to see it ASAP...but remember...wilder wanted an immediate one after the first fight and couldnt get it....i think wilder knows hell get his shot if he takes care of business in the interim...i dont think hes all that worried....

yes wilder fell in love with what he was doing....and hasnt improved...and it may too late to teach an old dog....but hes still dangerous as all hell if he hasnt mentally collapsed, in an "in the ring" sense, since losing......

how quickly we forget that after the first fight wilder wanted an immediate rematch and was made to wait by team fury/arum....wilder will get another shot if he wins in the meantime

i like your comparison to happy gilmore....and you know what? thats ok...fighters would be boring if they were all the same...for every lomachenko we could use a wilder...a guy who knocks people TF out most of the time and wants to....but maybe lacks conventional skill....thats part of what endeared me to wilder...he wasnt like everyone else....but he feared nothing really...."oh **** youre outboxing the **** out of me and im probably going to lose? i dont care im still gonna try to knock you TF out in the 12th"...."damn well i got a draw..lets do this again right away".....

Can't deny your opinion, makes sense. No arguments from me.
In fact, I think if Wilder doesn't retire it's going to be interesting see him rebuild and keep that top 3 spot while he bides his time. It will be much more of a struggle this time around and I hope he and his management are up for it.
I really want to see him against AJ and I'm gutted they havn't fought already, Wilder has a chance in that fight IMO.

The "$100m deal" was for fighting on Dazn, a fight with Brezeale and two others. Joshua was said to be on offer as a back to back but they said they never guaranteed it in the contract. This was negotiated in April 2019. Joshua lost in June 2019, this would have left Wilder unable to showcase on ESPN (both fights were not PPV) and cost him a massive amount of eyes...lest we forget this time last year Wilder had just knocked out Ortiz in spectacular fashion. That would have taken place on DAZN if he signed that deal...a ****ty app which seems to not be paying its fighters and is on the cusp of failure.

If you think a guy who earned $36m is "mismanaged", I would love to see your paycheck.

But Deontay Wilder is a ****ing idiot who puts his foot in his mouth...part of the reason why he struggles to gain an audience. Google "Al Haymon Wilder DAZN deal" and you can read why Haymon talked him out of it. In all honesty, I think he was tempted, but people need to remember that Haymon plays a big part in why Wilder isn't broke. He's all ego and I can already tell doesn't understand the intricacies in contractual negotiations...hence why he's out here talking about "egg weights" and not shutting up and letting Haymon and co. handle business.

Remember Canelo's deal was worth "$300m" too, and yet he seemed desperate to get out of it...why? Because those deals are hardly ever guaranteed and lock fighters into stipulations and opponents they often have no real interest in. Wilder would have been left out of the loop since Joshua lost to Ruiz and would not have been able to stage his Fury rematch. That's just the way boxing goes. Hearn and Joshua should have taken Wilder on before he even got in touch with Fury in 2018...now they're never really going to open themselves up to the American market...ESPECIALLY after the loss to Ruiz. Remember that Wilder is more famous here than Joshua is there.
