What would choose? Be brave and potentially never box again and be broke for the rest of your life or quit regroup get better and make enough money to have a comfortable life for yourself and family.

Its the same fun word game we use with "quit" and "quitter". We take a single action and use it to label an individual and their character.

The problem is some people toss words like "quitter" or "bum" or worse around to belittle fighters they take issue with. Boxing is a tremendously brutal sport and I respect those that enter that ring.

Daniel Dubois may have retired or quit in that fight against Joyce but I would never call him a quitter unless it's something that happens so often that it's part of his character. The same way that I would never actually call any of those fighter previously mentioned "losers".

Only post I've really agreed with in this thread so far. Trying to say that calling him a "quitter" is just a neutral and factual observation are dishonestly splitting hairs. Calling someone a "quitter" carries baggage, and it's abundantly clear that they're not just making observations, they're trying to talk smack. I'll admit that I had that same reaction at first because I'd backed Dubois to win and thought that he was ahead at the point of the stoppage, but I didn't know for sure that he'd fractured his orbital bone. Injuries like that aren't just excruciatingly painful, they're career-threatening and potentially life-changing. Fighters don't owe the fans the obligation of taking that risk and potentially going blind in one eye and shouldn't be criticised if they pull out of a fight if that risk is clear and present. The same goes for any other similarly severe injury.

The persistent quitter talk on here, even after the nature of the injury came out, was actually kind of eye-opening as to the general sentiments and worldviews of some of the people who post on here. I really feel that a significant number of posters aren't here to enjoy good fights or celebrate the successes of fighters they like, they just want to see fighters fail or suffer or fall short in some way and then gloat about it.

He is young and I see much that

Can be developed with him. He’s really just a raw big strong kid no real fluent talent. I noticed during the whole fight he give yo much front, his elbows are wide open for body shots and these are the things you can get away with with this crop of heavyweights but not in the lower weight classes. I never seen him really relax catch and shoot meaning pic shots with his gloves and counter. I really thought he was a better fighter blowing away some of the fighters I had seen him in however I know now he’s just a basic beginner.
