    Tyson boxing tour gets support

One boxing scribe supports Tyson's endeavor. If the current powers that be keep failing to make the best vs tbe best, well then bring back the living legends to save the dying sport...

The name Mike Tyson is on the same level of fame and popularity as Muhammad Ali, just in a different way. They both electrified the most challenging sport on earth and left us mortals in awe. They reigned supreme, inspired millions, and in the end each became positive, beloved figures. I support Mike Tyson's farewell exhibition tour, I want to see him in the ring again even in his 50s in slow paced soft sparring. I want to see him in the boxing realm, how he acts, what he says, how he moves, see those old combinations. It's more intriguing than any PBC fight and some of the meaningless set ups today. If boxing keeps failing to make the best vs the best, then bring back the old greats to try to save the sport. Oldtimers games in baseball and hockey and the senior tours in golf and tennis are very successful. - Scoop Malinowski

Tyson vs Briggs doesn't float my boat. But Tyson vs Golota or Toney does. Especially Golota

Old timers golf won't result in a brain injury or fatality.

It's all fun and games now, but this stuff needs to stop. You either get a pro licence and box, or you don't. Exhibitions and celebrity stuff will give the sport a short term financial boost, but will kill the sport longer term.

These are not real fights, these are like WWF soft fights. Which is okay. Senior tennis is soft tennis too, they don't play all out because they don't want to get hurt. Legends hockey and baseball are soft too, it's just a pleasure to see our legends and heroes back in the domain they once dominated and destroyed.

I was surprised how much buzz the event got amongst casuals. Kind of a catch-22. I agree that this legends tour sounds like a recipe for disaster health-wise for some of these guys. At the same time. If they can find a way to make it as 'safe as possible' maybe it will be a good thing.

It certainly could bring some fans back into the sport.

The rules are there can't be a knockout. Which I think is basically code for: This is only a soft sparring session, both fighters agree to play soft and nobody will get hurt. Which is the way it should be because we don't want to see another Greg Page tragedy. They have legends game in hockey and nobody tries to hurt anyone, boxing is doing it the same way. Bring on Tyson and Golota or Toney )

What does Scoop Malinowski have against PBC? Why mention them by name instead of Top Rank's in-house fights or DAZN's trash?

Arum has tried to make Bud vs Spence. He pushed hard to make Floyd vs Pac in 2010 but Floyd ran away for 6 years. Arum has never blocked one big superfight in 5 decades in the business. Haymon has blocked at least a dozen in ten years.
