Well am hearing he broke his orbital eye socket. So he definitely made the right decision in that aspect. The sad bit is once you made that decision, this sport is so unforgiving in that terms.

His opponents would bring it up, fans would. Even your own team would now doubt you. I always believe in getting a guy up in at the right level, Warren for whatever reasons doesn’t do that with some of his fighters.

Instead of serving DDD with some African/Japanese miners, he could have place DDD in more meaningful fights with more experienced veterans like he did with the Kevin Johnson fight. Him putting away these low level African boxers doesn’t do much for him in reality.

Kevin Johnson actually said he doesn’t hit that hard. I really doubt he would go for a rematch with JJ, but he still has a lot of mileage left and he is young doe.

Whyte has to understand that everyone isn't able to go to sleep in the ring on command like he is...

          Quitters

If a boxer is bigger than you and has a longer reach with a good jab, you need to change your game plan or you will lose badly.

Lennox Lewis v Garry Mason (in fact Mason has that big build up top like Dubois).....Mason's eye closed but he gave it one more go swinging away and Ref stopped it. No quit.

Fury v Chisora 2 Chisora got jabbed and hit to death, was getting no where, no chance of winning, quit

Ali v George Chuvalo 1 ad 2.....at least Chuvalo kept going and threw punches back when he could.

Dubois had no game plan, he expected Joe Joyce to do his usual slow walk forward throwing punches, and expected to catch him and knock him out. Dubois was getting hit sometimes with three jabs at a time, he actually looked slower than Joyce. Where was his jab, where was his head movement and he had no stamina to maintain any type of attack. His corner never gave him any advice about moving to avoid the jab. Joyce just played to his strengths, Dubois needs to learn to jab to get in close, then let his punches go and be more explosive, he just looked like a slow plodder. He should have got up and ran making it out of the round, given the scoring he was not losing, (i think it was fixed for him to win) at least let the Doctor end it. If there was another round, then go out all guns blazing to try for knockout.
He has a lot to work on........

His corner should have pulled him out. The stream I was watching wasnt very clear. It was only in the 9th that I saw how bad it was.

Pulling him out would have done him a world of good, image wise.

Agreed. The corner could have spared him the embarrassment by pulling him out. I would have liked to see Dubois make one last stand but ultimately it’s his career and his eye. All he can do now is heal up and try to come back stronger. It will be difficult to shed the “quitter” label but that comes with the territory when you do what Dubois did. I wish him the best though and Joyce did a good job.

Exactly. Dubois could have emptied the tank in search of a Hail Mary to turn the tide.

It wasnt a good look for Dubois, but Whyte getting absolutely flatlined by old Povetkin wasnt a particularly good look either. I think Dubois would have a pretty good shot at beating Whyte anyway, Dillian is nowhere near as big, strong and durable as Joyce is.

I cannot stand Whyte. He slags of just about everyone.

I hope Povetkin knocks him out again
