If Golota wasn't... odd, he might very well be the top heavyweight in the world right now. He has two wins against Ridduck Bowe that he didn't actually win because he couldn't not hit him low. He quit against Grant after a knockdown when he was winning fairly easily. He fought Byrd very well, and his loss to Ruiz was a bs decision. His three real losses were against Tyson (technically a NC though), Lewis, and his last fight versus Brewster. If he had a career of good breaks, he'd be 43-3. Given the division now, he would be competing for a title for sure at the least.

It is still showing as a legit fight. Don't really know if it is though. I do not think HBO is going to televise it though.

Lampley and Merchant saw Adamek-Briggs I last year even though it was untelevised. It was a great fight and I imagine they may have influenced which undercard HBO televises...

If Golota had a normal brain with his skills he could be a legit threat to the champs of today. I wonder if he was scared of Brewster like Lewis or it was just a great shot. He had everything a fighter needs to succeed except the temperament. I still think he beats McBride. McBride is not anything exceptional. How he couldn't parlay his Tyson win into a title shot is a shock to me. Maybe if he beats Golota he gets one. He was robbed versus Ruiz IMO.

After Golota's meltdown against Tyson. I felt the one thing that could have helped him would've been a better trainer. When he had Duva and Bloodworth all they did was yell at him. Then when he brought Al Certo in prior to the Tyson fight, I knew right away that it was not a very good match because Certo is one of the worst trainers in the history of the sport. Then he make's another comeback and hire's Sam Colonna. Colonna is not a trainer, he is nothing but a spit bucket handler. Golota's career has been ravaged with idiotic decisions on his part.
