The problem for Smith is that although he’s tall and long, he doesn’t actually use his jab or size that well. I said on here a couple of years ago after that Skoglund fight that it’s very easy to get past Smith’s jab and do work, which is what Ryder did, and Canelo will do with a lot of success.

A few months ago, I would’ve said that Derek Chisora could not pull out a great performance without a crowd. It turns out all you need is Tony Bellew shouting “come on Derek” to get a great performance from him.

Canelo wont be as wild and scrappy as Ryder or Skoglund which might help Smith. Smith absolutely obliterated Fielding and was able to break (a knackered) Groves from the outside.
Even after all that, I expect Canelo to land a devastating body shot early. I hope the Ryder performance makes Canelo complacent otherwise it might be a disappointing fightComment
