    Unbeatable Light Heavyweights

Two gifted boxers who retired as undefeated light heavyweight champions are Joe Calzaghe and Andre Ward. They are two of my all-time favorites, and they hold a rare distinction that no one could beat either of them.

Who, in your opinion, would have proven the biggest test for each of them?

I would say, for Calzaghe, a boxer with good midrange control and a bit of knockout pop in both hands would have stood the best chance of taking his zero.

For Ward, I would say a boxer who is incredibly strong on the inside and fast at getting his shots off would have caused him the greatest risk of a loss.

Who do you think, if any, could have beat these true legends of the ring?

    (46-0, 32-0, true legends)

Prime RJJ or a younger B-Hop beat Calzaghe at 175, I think Toney, Spinks, Foster, Ward and Kovalev all beat him at 175 too. Joe wasn’t all that impressive at 175 even the ghost of Roy put him down. He was a dominant and excellent champion at 168, but he only really moved up to 175 for some money fights before he retired. I don’t think you can take too much from his 175 run. At 168 I’d only pick RJJ, Toney and Ward over him. His activity would be a problem for Toney though, I’d make that a 50/50 fight tbf.

As for Ward. Prime RJJ beats him, I thought Kovalev edged him in the first fight so that makes me think Spinks’ size and jab would give him big problems. Ward was such a great tactician though I think he’d be highly competitive with anyone, was fantastic at adjusting and adapting mid fight.
