Unca Bob has been in this business for along time. Love him or hate him, he knows his shit. Bud trying to position himself for renegotiation by delaying signing his contract, undermined Bob's promotion efforts of the Spence-Garcia fight and the Crawford-Brook fight. And demanding a mint to fight during a pandemic is ludicrous. You're not going to be able to make the money you want, so make the money that you can.

I'm on Bob arum side on this one he usually is a straight shooter. I think a lot of posters on here failed to read the whole article.

What Crawford did is he kept arum hanging and didn't allow him to even promote him for the brook fight. Which hurt the ratings. And his manager leaked all of his existing contract details to the media to try to create more value for him through a bargaining War. He's basically making his contract limitations public to try to create hype and extort more money out of top rank when top rank is already losing money keeping him aboard.

In my opinion Terence Crawford screwed up by not taking a Shawn Porter fight. Apparently he has a homey Claus in his contract where he is not allowed to fight his homies. That would have been his first viable pay-per-view he has not had a single legitimate pay-per-view yet. Where area is Spence is now going on three successful pay-per-views events that actually made money. PBC would have served up Shawn Porter to Crawford. It would have been a great fight and it would have made the Spence Crawford fight much bigger had he won that.

Never ever feel bad for Fighters that make 7 figure purses over and over again to fight inferior competition. Oh poor me I'm the boogeyman no one wants to fight me.

We've seen this movie a million times over the past decade. Crawford's gonna end up having to sit out his contract until next year because he and Bob are obviously at odds and both can no longer pretend everything's cool.

Maybe Bud and Arum are tired of being asked about the fight because they both know it won't happen for different reasons.

We all know Arum doesn't like sharing the promotions for big fights because he has to open his books and show where every dollar came and went.

This is the same mess that went on for nearly 6 years before we got the Mega Fight and I'm cringing at the thought of having to go through it all again. This is why a lot of hardcore fans stop watching the sport.

I don't buy that. Spence is fighting DSG in front of fans and so will Canelo a few weeks later. Bob can talk about the closed circuit and all that, but they can still get a great gate even during these times. And really his math is not adding up here at all. He said you have to pay both fighters like 10M and they can't provide that in a pandemic. He also said 1/3 of the buys for Wilder vs Fury came on ESPN+ and that cable distributors only take 40% now. I've read for any buys through Fox Sports or ESPN+, they go to the promotion at a far higher rate so let's say they take home 80% while giving ESPN+ and Fox Sports 20% distribution rate. This was something Mannix mentioned on one of his podcasts btw.

Okay, so let's take a look at this. Let's say there are 400,000 buys and again, 1/3 come from ESPN+/Fox Sports.

280,000 * 75 = $21,000,000 * 60% = 12,600,000
120,000 * 75 = $9,000,000 * 80 = $7,200,000

Then let's say they put the fight at Cowboys stadium and again hold around 15-17k. They can increase the prices and easily obtain a 3M gate. Then from sponsors plus international money, they can bring in another 4-5M.

That alone brings in around 27M or so. That would be enough to give both fighters 10M plus all the promotional expenses and paying the undercard fighters.

Bob is not making sense here and he's all over the place.
