Show me an MMA fight as good as Hagler vs Hearns or Ward vs Gatti or even something more recent like Inoue vs Donaire.

Again a good boxing match will always be better than a good UGC fight
That’s what I’m saying. Boxing is a better sport but the UFC organisation is well run and is more consistent with its product

Hooker/Poirier and Zhang/Joanna literally this year was on that kind of level. Then historically theres stuff like Hendo/Shogun, Lawler/McDonald, Hunt/Bigfoot, Griffin/Bonnar etc etc. Adesanya/Gastelum and Romero/Costa last year were great too.

MMA has more wars than boxing, pointless pretending otherwise.

Maybe not these days. But Pride FC and (at its peak) Strikeforce gave the UFC a run for its money.

Boxings rankings are far worse given all the different orgs having their own and top guys avoiding each other. For the most part independent MMA rankings are pretty similar to the UFCs own rankings anyway.

And what do you mean by push anyone? like...have them fight other elite opponents so we can all quickly find out if they're the real deal or not? it sounds like an indirect way of just saying the UFC gets **** done and makes stars quicker.

Hooker vs Poirer is not even close to the level of Haggler vs Hearn or Gatti vs Ward.

Its not just wars, in boxing there is actual technique, a lot of those fights you mentioned were wars because those guys had limited ability at boxing/kick-boxing

Way more technique. Most of the UFC champions come from a grappling/wrestling backgrounds. Naturally their standup is subpar.

That’s my biggest issues with MMA. Standup fights with two fighters that aren’t even strikers. It looks dreadful.

Give me Stylebenders kickboxing, Khabib wrestling or Maias BJJ any day. I love a specialist

Agreed, especially with the last part (I'm a big Khabib fan).

Hooker/Poirier was like 6 months ago, Hagler/Hearns was 35 years ago and Gatti/Ward was in the early 00s lol. And nobody raves about Hagler/Hearns or Gatti/Ward for technique, people liked those fights because they were intense slugfests. I love Hagler/Hearns et al as much as the next guy but lets be honest, almost all of these classic boxing matches people reference happened during a boxing golden age when MMA either didnt even exist or was dwarfed by boxing, and they've been immortalized over the decades. The fights that get that kind of treatment going forward are more likely to be from the UFC than boxing, the dynamics have shifted.

MMA striking gets underrated anyway, especially when compared to kickboxing which is a fairly small sport that has declined a lot since the 00s. How many times has Reem been slept in MMA? remember Rozenstruik getting stopped in under 20 seconds by Ngannou this year? or Saki getting KTFO by Khalil ****ing Rountree a few years back? even Adesanya who for the most part is having a ton of success still had a very tough 5 round stand up war with a 5'9 blown up WW who has never competed in a pure striking art before.
