People who don’t realise how good he is don’t really understand boxing.

Of course he doesn’t look as aesthetically pleasing as a welterweight because he’s 6’8 or so, but There’s not many fighters in boxing that can fight inside or outside , orthodox or southpaw, going backwards or going forwards, tough, great punch resistance/recovery, great judgement of distance , ring IQ etc..

Put it this way,,he dethroned Wlad and also beat the biggest puncher of the generation, both who happen to be the two longest reigning champions of current times, and he beat them in two entirely different fashions. dethroned Wlad by fighting on the back foot and beat Wilder going right at him, even though his power is immense is immense.

Like him or not, it’s time people just realise that he’s actually just really good and that’s all there is to it. His biggest flaw is fighting down to the level of opposition.

People consider Usyk as some master boxer but he just had a very close fight with Chisora, and Chisora is not great but he always gives everyone a tough fight except Tyson Fury. Fury took Chisora’s 0 and whooped him again, and has still been the only person who never allowed Chisora to be even competitive for a second of the fight. That was a young and fresh Chisora without lots of losses. but today’s supposed master boxers like Usyk are still struggling with him. Even in the first fight, a green Fury dealt with Chisora better than Vitali could

Fury is just a cut above the current heavyweights.

He’s definitely clumsy at times. He has quick feet and is has good upper body movement. I’m sure you’ve seen the videos of him slipping punches on the ropes.

Big guys are just usually far more stationary.

Because he is. He’s damned good. Big facts.
Fury has some attributes that he utilizes well like his awkward herkyjerky movements, his size/length/reach as well as his underrated toughness amongst other things. He’s good really good but... he still cheated. Lol.

He's good, better than the current crop of HWs for sure (who are nothing to write home about) but he's not the second coming of boxing jesus like his fanboys claim.

and yeah, he got too much credit for beating (most likely while on PEDs) a Wlad who was past prime and dealing with marital problems due to his then crazy, post-partum depression wife

that been said, Fury is still the best active HW..Joshua is a chinless stiff who got manhandled by a fat blob and fought like a totally scared ***** in the rematch.

If beating Chisora is your measure of greatness, you forgot to mention that Usyk was a bloated cruiserweight in his very first fight at HW, and Vitali was past prime, with one foot on retirement and injured his arm early during the fight, and still beat Chisora very handily

The Klitschkos were the last true GREAT hws, Fury isn't but he's at least better than the current crop of chumps

He's decent if a bit of a ducker.
I'll believe he will fight AJ when I see him climb through the ropes. I don't trust Fury and his Dad not to duck.

The era is good - Fury has just been able to fool people due to his win against Wlad. And he has been able to build a false narrative based on that and he consolidated that by beating the bum, Wilder.

I think your last paragraph is the reason why he gets so much hype. And I think it’s because we’ve never had a 6’9 athlete who can box and the bums at that height in boxing are always stationary. However, based on the eye test - his lateral speed is **** average and he lacks quickness. The herky-jerky style also makes his upper body movement look better than it’s.

Obviously, I’ve seen the videos but they were against Schwarz and Wilder for crying out loud. He won’t dare try that against a quality boxer. He didn’t even try it against Wlad.

I look at Fury like this: if you’ve been a pro for almost 14 yrs and can’t put a combination together properly without all the clumsiness and pawing with your left before swinging with your right very wide at 180 - you’re a KO waiting to happen. And when he comes forward - he’s always open to hooks and uppercuts.

I just haven’t seen anything special from the guy to make me think he’s as good as noise. And every time he has fought anyone who can box a bit (without controversy) apart from Wlad - he has been busted up or put on his arse. Those guys weren’t just decent enough to finish the job and that’s the reason they aren’t world level.
