  • Arum is a victim of political incorrectness when it comes to this guy.
He got things bottled up inside and can't criticize the guy.
It worked for Mr Crawford. Made him super rich and already talking about retiring.

To be fair, Spence, on the other hand, is on a different dynamic.
Haymon can give him any amount and Truth just gobbles it up as fair.
Therefore, this "wrong side of the street" thing doesn't make sense.
TC's net worth is probably higher just by fighting crabs.

Could you imagine he re-signs with Top Rank and they book a rematch with Kavaliauskas because he got hurt, then Jose Benavidez comes out of nowhere and they book a rematch for that saying it took too long to beat him?

Sad thing is, his fans would applaud both fights as #1P4P level.

I posted this back in March (before anything was confirmed/signed):

Now, I'll post this for 2021.
Because remember: he hasn't retired yet, he last fought in 2019 (he lost to Barbosa) so he's due for a fight, he's still a name. You know you see Arum trying to book it and sell it to the Mexicans as two warriors going at it.

Even if it's what each guy thinks he's worth, it ain't necessarily what he's gonna end up getting!
Exactly. People are putting way too much stock into these media sound bites.

Plus, let's see how Spence looks on 12/5.

            No, Haymon's program is this.

Both guys make the same base guarantee. Usually $2-3 million but could be lower.

A-Side gets the larger percentage of gate and PPV revenue.

            Basically, how it should be.

Haymon's method means that, the more guys self-promote, the richer they become, because "officially" Haymon isn't a promoter, he's a manager (Ali Act), so it's up to the fighters to drum up interest for the fight. That's why Porter was contacting celebs to get them in there and Spence drove to AT&T Stadium. The fighters work for the check they want, in other words. That also keeps their names in the mainstream.

This is how Haymon is able to book top tier fights with minimal investment - it's on the fighters to figure out how to get the biggest paydays.

Remember, Tim Bradley was the first to use the phrase "other side of the street" - because he understood that he wasn't willing to do self-promotion back then (unlike now, apparently).

Before the Porter fight Errol was estimated around $8 million net worth and he made significantly more for Porter. His medical bills, insurance, rehab, legal fees and plastic surgery - plus having to recompense the city for repairs, likely cut a big chunk out, so probably around $12-15 million all told. He also lives in a place with no state income tax.

Here's the problem. Your posturing has to be realistic.

Claressa Shields would have performed better than what we saw from Brook.

But if Crawford had beaten Claressa, would anyone realistically accept that he should get the greater split? No.

Equal? Maybe - since Spence has Claressa Top 5 P4P for some reason.

But then you're talking a PRIME fighter. Not the ghost of a prime fighter.

How about "Hey Spence, I'm ready to fight. Come to the table if you're ready to get a fight signed" and leave it at that?

Bottom line is Crawford outmaneuvered Spence financially.
Bud Crawford made his first million $$$ long before Truth got his,
which was not even under the PBC umbrella.
It was under Matchroom when he fought Brook in Sheffield, England.
                  I believed it was $900K.
Prior to that, he made $300K in his arguably first step up fight with Algieri, who
made $500K, (which was eventually swindled by Chris's then promoter.)
Spence made $250K in the Bundu fight.

Therefore, Mr Errol has no basis in saying Bud is on the wrong side of the street,
                  financially-wise.

                  • They both just need to agree to 50/50 and get it on. Enough of this jockeying for the upper hand.
