Porter says he wants Crawford, well he is the Mandatory, is he going to exercise it?

“I don’t foresee a fight between myself and Terence Crawford anytime soon. I don’t think that’s the route Top Rank wants to go, but I am the mandatory for the WBO title.”

Lesser known names have been able to enforce their mandatory status, so will Porter? Or is he all talk

... if he formally enforces the mando he gets 25% from pretty much nothing -- as Arum doesn't put big money on the table...

Crawford won't take it. Porter hasn't shown signs of being washed up and isn't a tomato can.

Its Risky but can be the ultimate power play that Haymon/PBC has.

Take that short money, defeat Crawford takes his belt and bring it back to PBC and hold it hostage their and now Crawford has to bow down to PBC.

If Crawford loses to Porter, don’t expect to see him against the PBC guys unless he signs. Spence might outright just pass on him if hes coming off a loss from someone he beat. Told you so type of thing. I think if that happened, Spence would do the Pacquiao fight then move up.

More important that Spence said in that same interview:

I don’t think Kell Brook had that ready to go-through-fire-type (mentality). As soon as he got touched, he got hurt and he folded very quickly; no resistance, which was the only thing that was disappointing for me in that fight.”
In other words, a fighter who was in the ring, confirming what we already knew, which is that Crawford stopped a shell of the man, NOT the man.

Yeah, but it is the only move they really have, destroy the image of Crawford with branding him with that L to someone Spence already beat. Now the storyline of "Crawford being Spence Rival" is destroyed and only one way to get that back for crawford is to chase Spence now.

So as a business move for pbc its the only real move you can make that will elevate Spence profile without even that fight taking place and ultimately create more fights for you 2nd tier welters i.e thurman, pacman, lopez, ugas, etc if crawford decides to cross that street/join this side to chase spence.

Porter was scoring Crawford-Brook live on twitter, round by round. He had Brook winning 3-0, then he said he had a lot to say, but he would wait until his Tuesday podcast.

I think he's going to call out Crawford today.
