A new weight class between heavy and cruiser is a good idea. But the execution here has been horrible

Heavyweight is the open class of boxing and has a long, rich history.

No need to mess with that just because a few giants come along from time to time.

I was thinking the other day, revising my thoughts on weights. Man, at the end of the day if fighters agree to a fight at a class then so be it. I think weight classes are the biggest Pandora’s box in boxing because as we’ve involved with sports fighters from yesteryear didn’t have experts to help with such calibrations or know about draining. I guess back in the old days it was as primitive as just not eating for a while to hit a scale, particularly in gangster days where politics were dangerous, like mobsters running the shows or black fighters being restricted with stipulations. Given those extremities from back in the day fighters today are soft, and we just pay respect to early boys who made this sport “better.” As much as I like to complain about Floyd vs Canelo at 152 most of my gripe is why didn’t Floyd fight him at the IV higher weight if it was “easy,” considering Floyd said GGG was easy work too. Truth is Canelo’s gameplan was bad and his Ring IQ didn’t have enough experience. A Trout win wasn’t enough. I’m more disgruntled with Floyd switching agreements last minute with Marquez from 144 to 146. that’s an advantage for Marquez, but the point is 144 on the scale benefits Marquez since Floyd couldn’t do it! That’s the point!

At the end of the day, all these weights that we argue about doesn’t really matter. I spar with guys of various weight differences all the time, sometimes real hard hitters. I don’t know. I’m starting to change my opinion on the sport with weights. it’s not a big deal, but at the same time it is. Lol

smells like more sanctioning fees. We desperately need an international commission for boxing while abolishing these corrupt ass sanctioning bodies for good. I can't stand these motherfückers! Like we don't have enough confusion and weight divisions in the sport.

Another pointless exercise by the self important outfit.The serious money is and will always be with the big boys .They might get a champion in this ridiculous division but then he'll step up to fight the real heavyweight champion,( more likely in the WBC) leapfrogging over the bonafide heavyweights and only he will make a few quid as nobody will pay a penny or have any interest with the rest.Another waste of time from this shabby outfit.

I like this move, but Bridgerweight is a rubbish name and it should be 214lbs.

175 - Light Cruiser
190 - Cruiser
214- Light Heavyweight
214+ - Heavyweight

Into 1. 140&147 Into 1 and so forth or simply just doing that in general combining jr n sr divisions itd be making divisions deeper making more watchable fighfs and honestly making boxing great again.
