This A-side and B-side thing is one of the things that is hurting boxing.

If someone is a genuine superstar like Mayweather, Pacquiao, Canelo, etc, then it goes without saying that they are the A-side (unless they are fighting each other). But these guys are young and have barely started to breakthrough to the mainstream. If guys this young hold up big fights then it's bad for the sport. With PBC & Fox working with Top Rank & ESPN, everyone involved is in a high risk, high reward situation. Wilder-Fury 2 was a 50-50 deal, Lopez-Davis should be the same situation.

I'd argue the whole structure of boxing is the problem. A side, B side is a small issue in the list of problems of boxing.

Very little outside the ring makes sense. That's a huge issue in boxing with keeping current fans entertained to max ability, growing new fans & maxing out revenue for the people with skin in the game.

        ummm.....

mentioning A-side, assumes that one is a huge PPV star

nobody at lightweight fills that description

it is ridiculous for Teo to refer to himself as the A-side

you should be a household name, before you start pulling that stunt... but nobody in the street would even recognize him

like I said... does anybody REALLY think that Lopez generates more than Tank... who is not in a position to pull that A-side bullshlt either

Ryan Garcia will likely get there before Lopez with his insane social media following

The A/B side argument is about who’s the daddy and who is the bish. Right now, belts or not. Tank is going to have the ball in his court. He can go on with his career without any of the top guys and do well. Ryan is probably the only one that can pull that off now as well.

I hope the fight happens but chances are it won’t because Teo isn’t going to be around 135 much longer and Tank will probably be bouncing between 130-135 decapitating the top ranked Mexicans along the way.

it is bullshlt.... and, it is most definitely about money lol

you need to be a household name, before you start pulling that stunt... but nobody in the street would even recognize him, and 99% of people have never heard his name before

it is absurd for a green kid with 15 fights under his belt to refer to himself as the "A-side"... how ridiculous

Being the champion has to hold some weight. Are you saying every fight should be 50-50 until someone becomes a household name or ppv star?

Boxing was simpler when fighters actually wanted to prove they were the best.

They’re doing a good job of willing him into ppv star status, but top dog he ain’t.

                  on what planet ?

I like Teo way more than tank, and I support him... but listening to a largely unknown kid refer to himself as the A-side, is a little hard-to-stomach

Mayweather actually was a superstar, and he was clearly the A-side over every opponent... but people used to cry about him pulling that card all the time... now, a largely unknown kid can pull that stunt?

                  here are the facts...

                  1) until you are an actual star, who generates a TON of revenue... NEVER, mention that A-side/B-side bullshlt... it makes you look like a bltch with built-in excuses

                  2) being slightly more popular than your - equally as unknown opponent - is ridiculous justification to start talking like Mayweather... none of those guys are superstars, Garcia is the most likely

FACT: Lopez is NOT a "star"... he is a young phenom who is on his way up
                  Lopez unseeded Loma!

                  Who did Tank unseeded?

I'm no fan boy or hater. When they do meet it will be epic regardless who is the A-side.

Truth be told Teo has the bragging rights like it or not!

They are both young but they will both get better.

Fight won't happen til at least 2022......Just Saying.

Sure, but the fact is that Lopez should have more of a legitimate claim to the throne to non casuals (Not calling you a casual). Lopez has all the belts that back up the fact that he is the guy to beat. He has made history on so many levels and should be way more marketable. His handlers just need to do a little better job. But like I said there shouldn't be any question in terms of resume and literally everything else that he rules the division right now. Tank, Haney, and Garcia haven't done crap in comparison.
