I like the idea of this because this represents the vast majority of professional boxers.
The boxers that mainstream are used to seeing, are the 1%. No one gives a **** ass about the other 99% of boxers. This will open people’s eyes about the truth of what boxing really is. Sad. A guy getting beat up for maybe $700 and then going to work at a factory the next day, making $15 per hr if he’s lucky.
This glitz and glamour that is pumped out with boxing movies, most of the time, is far from the truth. The underdog who gets his shot and wins does happen sometimes, but it’s so few and far between.
I look forward to this because it’s different than most boxing movies and it’s more real. At least, that’s how I hope it will be.
No idea what you are talking about, stating that this is different to most other boxing movies? Rocky Balboa, Cinderella man, Somebody up there likes me, Raging Bull 'All good movies about boxing'.
Rocky Balboa in my opinion depicted boxing quite well 'Rocky Balboa was a journey man or middle park fighter until he was given his big opportunity'.
Understand, that individual sports are all basically the same. Even in Tennis, Golf the top players are a small percentage of the overall participants in that sport etc.
Note: What are you sad about B Morph? Are you sad for track and field athletes? Swimmers? Gymnasts? Pretty much most individual sports athletes, perform and train in that environment. The environment where only the absolute best gain materialistic rewards, but most of the individuals who pursue these sports 'Do so, because it is a passion and they are being paid in multiple ways beyond materialism'.Last edited by PRINCEKOOL; 11-13-2020, 03:19 PM.Comment

Whatever, I get it it goes back to the money but it doesn’t sound like this guy could even defend himself. I am sure the job didn’t help his drug habit either as he was probably self medicating. Just feels like management let this kid down. Even if he was making 2k a night for 6 years that is only 32K a year. To repeatedly get your brain beat in with no hope? Some of his fights were a week apart? Luckily he is getting royalties for a book and movie. But why not bring back children working in coal mines if this ***** is acceptable?
Poor thing had blood coming out of holes i didn't know exist. Needed someone who couldn't even speak properly to throw the white towel in.Comment

A warrior is a warrior. He’s experienced real lows and the highest high. He’s also pretty charismatic. Don’t be salty. As a fan of both sports, nothing would make me happier than seeing a true fighter get this role. Whether a boxer got an mma role or mma a boxing one. We have a REAL fighter playing a role. Be glad.Comment

This is a movie about a man who will never see that and the dark nature of things with guys at the level. I can’t recall any movie like this. Rocky is the opposite...
We all know the top is disproportionately more successful in golf and tennis, etc. But you didnt have to get the life beaten out of you every day at the office. If I lose at tennis i literally don’t care. Wasnt fighting for my lifeLast edited by NearHypnos; 11-13-2020, 03:16 PM.Comment

I’ll agree with you, a lot of middle of the road athletes more than likely hold other jobs on top of their sports, but a lot of sports movies in general don’t depict that. A lot of sports movies depict athletes overcoming 1 in a million odds all the time and that creates a false sense of “anyone can do it.” The sad reality is, most of the time that’s not the case. Miracles don’t always happen.
And no. Don’t say that other sports have the same training conditions. Boxers put their life on the line every time they step in the ring. Sparring or in a real boxing event. By far boxing is the most dangerous sport. More deaths happen in boxing than any other sport. Golfers don’t have to worry about that. Tennis players don’t have to worry about that. Baseball players don’t have to worry about that. Hell even in mma I would say is safer than boxing because they have more avenues to win than just headshots. Submissions and what not. Boxing in general is much darker than other sports and much more brutal.
Maybe I didn’t explain where I was coming from in my first post well enough.Comment
