Comments Thread For: Top Rank Prez: Our Job As Promoter To Make Terence Crawford As Big As Possible

The struggle remains in the quest to secure the best welterweights in the world for arguably the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world. That will never prevent Top Rank from continuing to promoter Terence Crawford as if he's the biggest star in the world. Ahead of his upcoming title defense versus former champ Kell Brook (39-2, 27KOs), Top Rank and ESPN have begun rolling out shoulder programming for Omaha's Crawford. Fight week officially kicked off with Terence Crawford: Relentless', a 30-minute special which debuted this past Sunday.

        They’re failing Crawford terribly.

If the job is to make Bud a huge star, TR has failed miserably. They got him some money, but I don’t think the general sports fan on the street has any idea who he is.

He's 33, that ship has sailed. They should actually let him fight better competition years ago.

Terence IS the BEST boxer out here - bar none, but Top Rank sucks at promoting. They’re too concerned with making money and playing it safe. You’ve gotta ‘spend’ money with tons of ingenuity to promote.

Crawford might as well be the manager for the grocery store up the block with the type of “promotional” hype Arum produces.....Its no wonder Mayweather left this hype job “promoter.”...

idk about him being a star. It's difficult to build ppv attractions. Ppv or not, Crawford is entertaining and he's ready to fight anyone. Fans recognize this more than they let on. And TR has definitely excelled in promoting during this pandemic. Their youtube channel has really delivered some quality content and maybe that credit should go to ESPN? Idk, but boxing fans appreciate it. Nobody wants to watch zoom chats and it's nice to see an organization continue to take their promotion seriously.
