Five years from now it will be his wife’s house after she divorces him.

      - -Pretty cynical!

Being in the construction industry, my perception of the new monstrosities is the most all new construction poorly designed and overly bathroomed , a bad combo leading to plumbing destined to be permanently clogged with no way to clear the mess.

My local $200 mil main library garnished all manner dubious design accolades, but had a maze of squeaky stairs and within a month had put down the 4th floor women's bathroom out of service presumably all the way to the first floor.

Nice computer bank and plenty of books and glassed spaces, but lacking in overall design credibility. It won't last as long as the old Main library will.

I’ve noticed a modern trend where some newer homes have more bathrooms than bedrooms. These are people who think they will be doing a lot of entertaining, and never host nearly as often as they thought. Same ones who insist on granite countertops and stainless appliances even though they rarely cook and eat out in restaurants six days per week.

Most people will ride with bling over practicality, the world of prestige thrives on it.

I mean most of these homes will have more bathrooms than bedrooms, that's not really a problem, especially when the bedrooms will each have a bathroom. When I say most homes, I'm referring to the ones that are over 4,500-6,000 sq foot. Modern homes are trending towards less bedrooms.

I agree that too many bathrooms is unnecessary, but don't think a house having more bathrooms than bedrooms is an issue per se.
