Ortiz is in a pickle. I have always been a fan. I think he fights for the right reasons and he is an across the board talented boxer. He is not great in anything, but he is not weak in any area either. But he is the VERY definition of "high risk, low reward" style boxer and it has killed his career.

Case in point: He has never developed much of a following, As such, he brings nothing to the table as far as fans. He does not pump up ratings, he does not add cash to the bottom line. That means he does not have that much interest from other fighters. Which means he does not have a great resume. Which means he does not add to a legacy. So you have a talented, dangerous fighter on the serious back end of a career in serious need for an opportunity with only 1 real name on it, and no fan base.

Ortiz may do better barely winning this fight. The only way he gets a big name opportunity is if his "high risk" goes away.

Even he has to admit the career is on a egg timer at this point. Those names provide no more cash to him than fighting Flores level fighters do. If he cannot get a Whyte, Joshua, Fury, or even an Usyk (in Europe, where Usyk is a huge draw) level fighter he might as well just keep fighting "B" level boxers on undercards and on FS1 for a couple years.
