What's the point of cruiserweight division?

You have a bunch of boxers who weigh-in at 200 lbs briefly while on the scale but end up often well over 200 lbs the night of the actual fight after rehydrating. So they are really fighting at what should be HW anyways.

How is this division ever going to get an identity of its own?

Well it really hasn't developed an identity so far. I think it should be done away with. There are 180- and 190-pound guys who can knock out guys over 200. Let them rumble!

Besides getting rid of any division at this point is very welcome!

Yeah, it's a bunch of midgets too scared to fight the main men at HW...

It is basically used by small heavyweights to win their first world titles and build a profile before moving to heavyweight.

Is that a good thing? Would a 5'10", 216 lbs Mike Tyson even be pushed to have gone right to HW and winning the HW title at 20, if CW was 200 lbs in his day?

Same as guy’s who fight at 135 and weigh 150 fight day or 147 pound guys weigh 160 plus the only way to get rid of this madness is back to same day weigh ins

I don’t mind it so much, but the division can’t seem to maintain the talent. Thing is, with bigger heavyweights now, there is a long jump from 175 to fighting 6’7” HWs at 240+.

So anyone who can't make 175lb should be fighting Fury and AJ?

Come in, it has a purpose
