He dropped Jacobs sure. But Jacobs got back up and fought harder. I understand your point but every fighter is different. You can go full speed ahead with some. Other time too big a step up too soon can ruin them. Moreover, boxing fans are fickle as ****. You can't lose a televised fight once you start getting noticed because then you get written off.

Canelo didn't lose any props for losing to Mayweather! I don't think Berlanga would lose any for losing to Jacobs or Rosado, well maybe Rosado! Lol! He needs someone to test him, and Bob is going to showcase him on the PR Parade Weekend, so maybe this cat Steve Nelson (17-0 w/ 14 KOs) can do it? Nelson is trained by BoMac (Crawford's trainer) and he's 32! He's already fought on ESPN before, so maybe he's the right one?Comment

I really like this kid. I hope they continue to move him slow. He needs to continue to develop his all around game. He could be special, but he just doesnt need to be rushed.Comment

berlanga is carefully cherrypicking the bums he beats up.
one of these cherrys will get him doe
ortiz will massacre him tbhComment

You must not follow boxing! you know Oscar is not going to put Ortiz in there with Boots unless it's for a title? Oscar is bringing Ortiz Jr. along just as slowly as Boots Ennis!Comment

Yeah, most of the posters on here are very critical of Berlanga ALREADY, because he's "only fighting bums!" That's how it's supposed to be when you're only 23! However, not every 23 yr. old is KOing bums in the first round, EVERY fight!

As for who he could fight as steps up. I like Alfredo Angulo and Gabe Rosado. Neither guy is anything special but they are good trial horses. They've lost to many of the best fighters of this era but never stop trying to win. I also like Andre Dirrell as an opponent. He's got some athleticism and skill but I don't think he has heart, is inactive and already 37. So he'd be a good test without being overly threatening. Then you can start having him step up to higher level guys like Danny Jacobs if you're really confident in him.Last edited by yankees7448; 10-27-2020, 10:56 PM.Comment
