On paper that sounds good but in the ring, that's a different beast.

Nothing special about trying (and failing miserably) to cut off the ring with a guy who isn't engaging and only being able to land two or three punches of note...in six rounds. Nothing special about winning by default because he was simply more active in the first half of the fight lol

I think Lopez deserves more credit than you give him. That said, even in the win, I'm not convinced that Lopez is actually a better boxer than Loma. And, other than being vengeful and spiteful, Lopez won't give Loma a rematch because he now knows that Loma would be super motivated to win and there is a good chance Loma will actually win the rematch.

I give him credit for being in shape, staying calm, his body punches, and blasting it out in the final round. I can't really see much else to give him credit for.

I agree it's highly doubtful he'll give Loma the rematch. He's a smart lad, he must know himself that he got let off in the first half of the fight and that when Loma did engage, it wasn't as easy as daddy said it would be. I see him having one more fight at 135, maybe Tank, and then moving up to 140 anyway.

Hey I agree that the most important fact for Team Lopez is that he became Undisputed Champion, fair and square.

But since I just came here to quibble .... I have to rectify your prepositional phrase intention....---> Actually there were plenty of people/fans that thought Lopez would win. In fact, I believe SquaredCircle picked Teofimo so...

(I know you probably just meant that figuratively, "When no one thought he would", but I thought I would just nit-pick a bit)

He isn't undisputed though lol you can blame Sulaimoney for that. You can't claim undisputed when one of the titles is a non-transferable honorary one that was only on the line due to a special request. Sorry, but, just no. If Callum Smith won the IBF and WBO would he be an undisputed champion? He doesn't just hold the WBA (Super) and Ring titles, he has a WBC Diamond one too!!

And I definitely didn't pick López. I wouldn't pick him in a rematch either lol
