Should have gotten that Trinidad decision though. Not the first Shane fight, maybe the second (to some people).

Oscar did have some stamina issues but he definitely was in some hard fights against really good fighters. Usually would be gassed but whoever was in front of him was usually not too much better off. He’d still have serious pop in that left hook until the last second of every fight and if he needed to, almost always went hard even after clearly visible exhaustion with hands down.

All jokes aside from his personal life, he was a fine fighter and represented boxing well. Fought the best of his prior generation, his generation, and the one after. Couldnt ask for me. Didn’t win then all but tbh...who would with his resume? He really was a warrior.

You know what his problem was as soon as he became a multiple Champ he became lazy didn’t do road work I watched a video where Edwin Valero stated Delahoya is lazy doesn’t want to run train hard I beat the crap out of him and I was fired as a sparring partner so I’m going to tell you Pacquio will beat Delahoya. A focused in shape Delahoya would have beat Mayweather that day he had no wind by round 10.He reminded me of Rocky 3 when Apollo said something about sleeping in silk pajamas

De La Hoya is underrated as hell, mainly for his out of the ring antics. He had sublime skills and he fought a who's who of boxing. Won most and lost some, guy was special. I can't think of a fighter who fought against that level of opponents their entire career.

His crap outside the ring clouds how good he was as a fighter. Should've got the nod against Mosley and Trinidad. Didn't have a great right hand.

Physically speaking his weakness was his stamina. But him showing a weakness to body shots is a good observation too.

His biggest weakness is probably his ring IQ. He had a good jab and was fast, so he can sometimes be thought of as more of a pure boxer, but he rarely was able to effectively adapt in the ring.

ODLH is an underrated fighter. He fought a lot of good fighters. He was a smart boxer with an excellent left hand.

He was fast but he had to push out his speed and made loose stamina or had to recover within a round.

He had close losses that could had gone to his favor. There is no shame in losing against Hopkins or Pac.

I am going to watch that fight.
It just shows how fallible long ago memory can be. I began thinking about it and decided to watch the fight myself. It was more or less a repeat of the first fight, with the exception that Mosley threw more rt hand body shots. Oscar's chest protector was there as usual; he had them custom made to be a bit higher. But the fact was that it was Mosely's father who kept telling him to throw that right to the body. He was doing it, but not the way I remembered, except in one rd where Oscar certainly felt it and crouched lower for the rest of the rd. .. after that rd his father told him that the body shot damaged Oscar and to keep doing it, st. left and rt. to the body.

A good fight and could have gone either way. The first fight Mosley clearly won, although it was a split and the 2nd was unanimous, but judges see different things. Mosley very diplomatically hinted that Oscar always wins his fights in Las Vegas....so he was in doubt over the decision.

I'm sure there was an Oscar fight in which his opponent was, in the later rds mainly throwing rt. hands to the body, as I described, but am too lazy to look for it.
