He never does - Lomachenko never had a rematch clause in any of his fights. Many boxers don't. This was not a Teo specific decision.

If Lopez had wiped the floor with Lomachenko, I could see the rematch turn down. But the fight was competitive, despite Vasyl taking more than half the fight to get started. And if the shoulder injury story prior to the fight is legit, it means that Lomachenko would give Teofimo even more trouble in a rematch and he knows it. Given that, refusing to fight Lomachenko again makes Lopez look like a bitch.

Like Juan Marquez, he won and he'll run.

It's financial to BOB....Bob doesn't do rematches. Blowing out the two best makes every other fight just seem ok and the TV contract needs content. No rematch means lots of lead up fights, build up and a second chance to make millions on PPV.

Sometimes fighters like Marquez and Salido feel like they don't want to take that chance again for any amount of money.
