If its the latter, who is it meant to be catered to? boxing fans wont really like it because they'll think the standard of boxing is poor, MMA fans wont really like it because they'd rather see MMA fighters fighting under MMA rules. Not to mention theres already those bare knuckle promotions full of old MMA washouts if you wanna see that kind of stuff anyway. Its going to be to Dana what the XFL was to Vince.

Eh? UFC has been on on Saturday nights as long as I can remember. Thats not a new thing.
Didn't used to be that way. I understand them fighting on Saturday nights but there are 4 sometimes 5 Saturday nights in a month Normally a boxing event is once a month especially since HBO is out of the equation. But it seems now that UFC schedule their fights now on the same date a boxing card is on. I mentioned HBO because there was a time they would schedule a card the same night as Showtime and fans would have to choose. And HBO ultimately lost out.

Once he has it, he can make sure he pits them against each other for 1 belt and 1 belt only.

Kind of like what we always wished for in boxing. The best fighting the best and less politics in the way or fighters being able to "duck" their way through easy competition.
BUT DANA DOESN'T EVEN DO THAT FOR THE UFC.

Anyone who is paying attention knows that UFC no longer has 1 belt and 1 belt only. Interim belts? BMF belt? Stop with this inaccurate narrative.

Anyone who is paying attention also knows that UFC "best always fighting the best" is fiction too. Romero getting a title shot vs Adesanya coming off 2 straight losses? Aldo getting a title shot vs Cejudo coming off 2 straight losses? It's clear that UFC often makes title fights and headline fights based on commercial appeal, not who has earned it or "best vs best."

So let's stop perpetuating the myths that there is only 1 belt in the UFC and the UFC always has the best fighting the best. Both are demonstrably false.

The BMF belt existed for literally one fight. It was a novelty not an actual title.

Romero got a title shot because Costa pulled out close to the fight and he was the next highest ranked opponent. Also both of his losses going in were close contentious decisions including one vs Costa himself. Adesanya then fought Costa 6 months after that fight anyway.

Aldo got a title shot because he went down a weight class and in most peoples eyes beat the no2 at the time ranked Marlon Moraes, but he was screwed by the judges. Then because of the backlash the UFC went with Aldo as no1 contender.

There is currently one interim title holder in the UFC out of 12 divisions, and that is about to be fixed this weekend.

They all tread on each others toes - PBC, Top Rank, the DAZN stuff etc is all Saturday night. ESPN actively allows the UFC and Top Rank to run shows on the same night on their network most weekends too. Saturday night is just a good night to air these shows, especially if you dont want to contend with the NFL.

Every fucking dumbass with a fat wallet think they can barge in and fix boxing.

Dana is smarter than the average bear, and he knows whats up. He'd be smart to not bother, he will fail like all the rest.

Well yeah there you go. I don't follow UFC at all to know the politics on that end. All I've ever heard the few times it was brought up and spoken about is that there is 1 belt for each weight class and that it offers the best fighting the best more often than not. If that's not the case, Okay then.

Yet, here is a chance to start fresh and do that again with boxing if Dana decides to do that. I'm not sure I'm all for him in the way he treats his fighters and the pay they receive but if he can provide some type of competition to boxing and it's current promoter structure AND the thousands of belts it has, it can create waves. Good competition is healthy competition and I'm all for it if it can bring positive changes to boxing.

I think initially it will be hard for Dana to sign guys. I'm interested to see what he can do in 3-5 years more than now. He has deep pockets and he knows how to promote fights.

Exactly, White is a huge fight fan and is number one At the fight game if he can do some positive it’s him even though he admitted in this article odds are stacked against him . I remember having to call cable companies up to ask them to put the UFC on when it was bankrupt back in the day ,I’d be interested what match he’s putting on ,any fight fan would . If anything he’s a supporting figure in trying to get relevant fights on so I’m game for sure . I also don’t know any promoters who challenged fighters they promote to actually fighting ,I remember Tito Ortiz ducked him in a an agreed to boxing match .

Offer to promote only Big Fights, don't jump into Boxing signing Fighters To these Exclusive Deals then you will struggle to find them quality opponents because of Boxing Politics

If he is willing to put up the money and offer OTT for a Mikey Garcia vs Pacquiao on a 1 Off then that could work!

I have no issues with Dana White jumping into boxing as long as it is done right and Fighters are being Compensation correctly and not like UFC Fighters. It is just the Politics he would have to deal which is what got the best of 50 Cent and Jay Z FAILED Boxing Promotions
