Comments Thread For: Teofimo Lopez: Gervonta Davis, Why You Fighting Leo Santa Cruz? That's Sad, Man

LAS VEGAS Teofimo Lopez hopes his contemporaries start following his lead. At just 23 years old, Lopez embraced a showdown with a three-division champion who was widely viewed as one of the top three boxers, pound-for-pound, in the sport. His unanimous-decision victory over favored Vasiliy Lomachenko was a star-making performance for a very confident fighter who wants unbeaten, talented lightweights like Gervonta Davis and Devin Haney to challenge themselves.

How the hell is Lopez gonna say something about Tank fighting LSC at 130. He just fought Lomo that started out at 126. I mean obviously there is a difference skill wise between Lomo and LSC but it's the pot calling the kettle black on that one. Maybe we can get Tank vs Lopez early next year at 135

Exactly. Neither Lomachenko nor LSC are natural 135lber. And both are great fighters in their own right even if you consider that Lomachenko is the greater of the two. This is still a pretty good fight at 130.

Leo Santa Cruz started his career at 118 and anyone who has followed it knows once he got to 126 he couldn't break a ****ing g****. Him fighting at 130 vs Davis is a joke.

He is absolutely spot on. It is sad, they literally dragged LSC up, Lopez fought an established guy at his weight, he did it the hard way.

Like Lopez said, before Mayweather became Money, he was PBF, you try to jump to Money and it might not work for you in the longer run.

Loma hadn't fought at 126 in a minute and was the legit lightweight champion. Not the same thing at all. It's not like he moved up from featherweight to fight Lopez, he was already established at 135.

Lopez better be ready to back up all this talk when Tank gets back to 135. He will duck and fight ramirez at 140.
