Floyd vs Sergio Martinez | Lara | ggg

How would these fights have gone

Floyd VS Lara, and Sergio to a lesser extent, is dream match for the boxing purist.

Vs Lara it’ll be the first time we see Floyd outworking the opponent to win

ggg should be tough match, but Brook had some success boxing him

      Floyd boxes circle around Ggg.
Martinez would be to green at 154
Lara is the only with a 50% chance.

I was really surprised Floyd never fought Sergio Martinez in 2014. Options were pretty limited for him in terms of a big name opponent and Sergio was essentially looking to cash out. He probably could have negotiated a favourable catchweight, and winning the lineal middleweight title would have been a huge plus to his legacy.

Mayweather was the ultimate opportunist in terms of matchmaking but I feel he missed this one.

Sergio hands down style vs Floyd’s sharpshooting

He’s far too small for a peak GGG IMO. Floyd is evidently the better fighter but at some point size matters. This is a guy who began at 130 fighting a fully fledged middleweight. If the fight is at 160 GGG stops him. Floyd walks around at like 150, GGG probably rehydrates to around 180. As great as Floyd was the physical dimensions are just too much.

Martinez and Lara are closer to Floyd’s size so despite some physical disadvantages I do think he could outthink and outmanoeuvre the two southpaws in order to win close decisions. Both tough fights for him stylistically though, he’d have to be more aggressive than usual.

Tough fight to call but I reckon Mayweather would figure him out and take a close decision.

Floyd vs Lara very high level chess match but i think floyd figures him out and wins 8-4 ish.
Floyd vs sergio, floyd 9-3 easier than Lara. I think he’ll catch sergio every time he tries to come in.
and Floyd gets KOd by GGG. Brooks success came when he stood and threw combinations at G, not when he boxed. If you give G an Inch he’ll take a foot and steamroll you.

Floyd would go to a vacation than to fight these guys.
