What is it with boxing dads?

Angel Garcia, Mayweather Sr, Ruben Guerrero, Lopez Sr, John Fury, Kenny Porter etc.

All characters to say the least.

Not gonna lie though, all of them seem desperate for the limelight and are having to live vicariously through their son’s because they couldn’t do it themselves.

You just hit the nail on the head. They're living through their sons.

Mayweather, especially knows he didn't live up to his potential, so he lived through Floyd Jr.

They do invest a lot into their Kid by paying for Boxing Equipment, paying for Boxing Gym Memberships taking them to the Gym everyday

I think they're just extremely Proud Parents and Proud to be apart of their Son's lives and to see them have all that success and they're not afraid to tell the world "That Is My Boy!"

All of those guys you listed been World Champions so the Father/Son Combination does work in Boxing!

Would these boxing sons be as good as they are if they didn’t have a crazy father who pushed them to hell and back

I think Teo said it was like child abuse

Floyd mentioned his father used to smack him

          It’s a good point tbf...

Roy’s dad was abusive in his training of Roy but Jones Jr actually credits that for motivating him to become a champion.

Didn’t Angel also threaten to beat the sh** out of Danny when he lost at a local amateur tournament as well.

My father taught me some stuff as a kid.

Mitt work, watching fights. But mostly for self defense and just love for the sport.

I guess because he developed Parkinson's.

Its just fathers being fathers, they want the best for their sons. They molded them their entire life to get to this point where we see them and how did they do that? is by having full control over them and just because they get famous doesn't really change their relationship, its hard to turn that off after 20 years being like that and thats what your relationship has become.

The worse father imo is Kenny Porter, he treat his son like a lil boy, talks to him like one aswell. Ruben, Angel, Mayweather SR are just controlling but they respect their son as a man but Kenny porter has barely started treating Shawn with that respect.

This sums up that attitude all the fathers have towards their son.

"Listen to My Comamnds, Obey My Commands!" - Ruben Guerrero to Robert in the corner.

Bradley mentioned it, he said his fathers methods were borderline child abuse. But they got him prepared for all the adversary he faced in his career.
