Idk how you can say a guy who lost the first 7 by not doing enough to even compete for the rounds won. Even if you can eek out one of those first 7 rounds for Loma the best he can do is get a draw.
And that doesn't take into account that Teo won the 12th clearly too.
Not everyone thinks he lost the first 7.
I gave Lomachenko rounds 6-11. He was already landing the cleaner shots and elevating his ring generalship before round 7 imo. Bradley and Joe hyped shots of Lopez that really didn't land or were glancing blows that probably judges also scored because I honestly think judges don't well understand when they see a block, parry, and when a fighter turns their head to glance away if not fully slip a punch.
You can make a strong case for Loma winning up to 7 rounds. Also for Teo, depends how judge it.
Is defense irrelevant? Loma made Teo miss constantly with slipping to his right.
Is accuracy irrelevant? Loma was about %30 more accurate with punching.
What about combos? Loma often landed 4-5 punches flush but Teo rarely landed flush, and no combos more than 2 punches.
People seem to think that punch output is all that matters but how can that be? If that were the rule then why bother with judges? Why call the sport boxing; it should be called brawling. If punch output was all that mattered then only tough pressure fighters could prevail, so the sport would be ruined.
So if you think Teo dominated, explain why Andre ward and the commentator, I think Tim Bradley, had it pretty much even into the last round. They were sat at ringside watching close up.
Also, be honest with yourself, when you were watching the fight did you say that Andre Ward and the commentary team were crazy?? Did you say; what fight are they watching???
Or was it after the fight that you started to see a Teofimo shutout?
Be honest with yourself here; in the years to come this fight will be considered somewhat controversial.
As time goes on more people in boxing will start to say they saw Loma win or at least a draw.
That being said, Teo did very well. He is special no doubt. He asserted himself and had a more effective defense than anyone else has had against Loma. You can make a case for him winning too.
