Comments Thread For: Lopez On Lomachenko Rematch: For What? Same Thing Will Happen Again

LAS VEGAS Teofimo Lopez appreciates the opportunity Vasiliy Lomachenko gave him Saturday night. The fully unified lightweight champion just doesn't think there's any reason they should fight again. Lopez believes a rematch would unfold similar to how he beat Lomachenko in their 12-round, 135-pound title unification fight.

Hindsight is 20/20 but Loma probably should've pushed for the rematch clause because I highly doubt Lopez will give him a shot for redemption.

I don't blame him , he is in the drivers seat now .Don't think Loma would offer Teofimo the same courtesy , he also won the fight pretty handedly. Loma did turn it on around the 8th round and had some success but that might of been out of desperation even then Lopez still was having his own moments and dominated the 12th.

Loma has only himself to blame for thinking for his thinking that there would be no need for a rematch from his perspective. A) either he was thinking he would just move on if he won a close fight or B) he was thinking he would win by a wide margin. That was not a good mindset and now he has to look into the mirror. As to a rematch if it happens, which it might if the price is right for Lopez, this is one of those fights where even though he came on strong, it doesn't guarantee that starting early will help. That can also backfire if a fighter moves into range quicker.

I don’t believe Loma wants a rematch. He spent the whole of last week rehearsing his fortnite moves that even myself personally thought he would do as soon as his hand was raised. I’m just grateful loma’s betting odds was too short for me to make money on so it feels like a victory for me because if I put money on a fighter and I see them not engage for 7 rounds or fight for my money ,I watch the remaining fight hoping they get knocked out

I picked lopez to win. That said, he'll lose if they fight again.

                  No rematch clause.

Can't believe that from Loma's team.

Doesn't matter really. Lopez is moving up in weight.
