History shows that, Insecure people hate people who are confident.
What’s there to hate about Teofimo Lopez?

I’m seeing people post things like Teo is David Diaz level, that he’s not great, and that he’s a club fighter. What’s there to not like about this kid?
1. The kid has the intangibles like speed, power and athleticism.
2. Is American, but is of Honduran descent, which is a country that isn’t highly represented in sports
3. Beat all of the contenders with decent records at 135.
4. Got a first world title fight on his 15th fight at 22 years old.
5. Makes his first world title defense against the pound for pound best in the world
6. Outboxes the former 2 time Olympic gold medalist and 4 division champ that is considered P4P #1
7. He’s only 23 years old and isn’t even prime yet
Sounds like a fight fan’s dream if you ask me. Certainly has the mentality of a true champion.
Nothing really.
The only thing cringe worthy is how much they are throwing around the term superstar lol. Lomachenko wasn't even a star, and I'm a fan of his. You don't become a superstar overnight beating a guy that wasn't a superstar himself lol. It was a great night of boxing, nothing more. Historically significant but there were better and more significant fights this year already.
I'll be watching him, but I'll be watching both.
I can list many fighters that you can't find a good reason to dislike.
Lomachenko
Golovkin
Fury
Lopez
Rungvisai
Coffie
Maidana
Ruiz Jr
Crawford
Usyk
Linares
Cuadras
Pacquiao
Porter
Brook
Yet people make ridiculous excuses and reasons to dislike the above mentioned fighters. People will mention "fans" or results they don't like, or comments these fighters said with confidence. All poor, childish reasoning. All of the above come to fight, put it all out there for fans, are entertaining, and fight whoever will fight them. What more can you ask for, if you really love boxing? Nothing. The answer is nothing.Comment

This is my concern. It's not so much he's not talented either. I think he will let the fame get to him and becomes his own worst enemy. Fighters tend to do do that more often than not. Its extremely hard to stay humble when your on top of the world.Comment

I would add Roman Gonzales to a short list of truly good guys. He is humble, spiritual, realistic, and one of the nicest guys boxing has seen. Much like his countryman Alexis Arguello who was endearing and respectful to opponents. And yeah, Porter is very likable. As a side note, I thought Porter's boxing was excellent in his last fight and was surprised people had negative comments after the fight. Linares when you hear him in an interview is a very down-to-earth guy. The only thing Pac ever said which rubbed me the wrong way was when he said God will deliver Floyd to his hands. Maybe that was a misquote perhaps. As to Ruiz Jr., he was instantly likable when I heard him interviewed long ago. As to Usyk, I like that he is funny and goofy and playful. Brook is one of the most soft-spoken guys when he is being interviewed and that got my attention. Besides skills, I favor a warm character in boxers for the most part, so thats my angle when chosing boxers I support, unless they are charming in some way in their arrogance and then that can get me interested. Thats some of my take.

Awesome post and great list. At the end of the day people hate on fighters or discredit them for things they say but they forget boxing is about entertainment and probably the most recognizable boxer ever is Ali and he was every bit as good an entertainer as he was a fighter.
Nothing really.

Exactly, that's why people like floyd and pac are so few and far between, staying hungry and focused and in shape and handling the pressure for years! not easy to doComment
-
There is nothing to hate about teo, there is nothing to hate about Lomo. Unfortunately the world is filled with utter tools and some of them claim to be Boxing fans.Comment

Not at all and you nailed it with staying in shape. That's what creates a legacy IMO staying fighting fit at all points just about guarantees a great performance every time. Then add to the fact both Pac and Floyd have stayed relevant in the public eye for all these years without falling apart shows a level of dedication that's rarely seen.Comment

Around here they hate anything that isn’t white even some mods behave that.
Sad ****t but that’s the times we’re living in.Comment

Roman is a great mention.
Hay que ser humilde.
Arguello is a great call out, I kept my list active fighters only.
Great post richardt. Real fans appreciate and respect fighters and what they sacrifice for our entertainment.
