I've never been of the opinion you can beat a top P4P guy & take his spot. I think this W gets Teo on the p4p list right above whereever Loma drops down to.

          That seems fair.

There’s nothing wrong if he’s placed there. The point is to consistently be there and take hard fights. Hard fights means adversity. Canelo fought hard punchers in GGGx2, Jacobs, Kovalev. He also fought slicksters in Trout, Lara and Cotto.

I’d say Trout or Lara (speed/southie) + Cotto = Lomachenko win. Take it that Lopez was bigger. Therefore Lopez has a ways to go. I’d say a Josh Taylor would be the Danny Jacobs for Canelo. That still leaves a GGg threat or Kovalev missing on Lopez’s resume. Danny, GGG, Kova all bigger than Canelo in the ring

The thing with this P4P stuff is that it's just a theoretical hypothetical, there just as "a bit of fun" for boxing fans, but it's got taken too seriously.

There's very few instances where it can actually be PROVEN, and that was shown last night.

I take nothing away from Lopez's victory, but that fight proved nothing when it comes to a "P4P" argument. If every boxer was the same size, who would win?.... well, Vaseline didn't look outclassed, but he looked out of his WEIGHT class... Lopez looked 1-2 divisions bigger for me. 135 isn't a good fit for him.

It also can't apply to straight match-ups IMO, kind of doesn't work that way... if boxer A has a style that beats boxer B, does that mean he's better, P4P, if boxer B is able to beat boxers C-Z and boxer A can't?

                P4P yes

                But #1? Lol

He wants that spot? The ingredients are right there in front:

                Tank
                Haney
                Garcia
                Taylor

No I would move him into the top 10 but he can’t be moved ahead of Canelo, Inoue, Crawford or Usyk.

Yeah I'm of the same opinion as Pandas there, I don't really do P4P but evaluating a fighter's overall ability ain't as simple as taking the result of one particular fight irrespective of how good the opponent. It's more a body of work thing with the emphasis on what's been done most recently.

I'm starting to think of Teo as one of the dudes could go on my loose 'elite' list but I'm wanting to see one or two more against top guys at 135 or 140 first.
