Lomachenko probably came into the fight cautious after seeing what Lopez did to Commey, who he picked to win. It took him awhile to figure it out because Lopez kept the jab in his face, attacked the body, and had an answer for anything he tried. In the 8th, Lomachenko opened up because he got use to the power and Lopez abandoned the body attack. Lopez started going back to the body towards the end of the 11th and kept it up in the last round. Lopez came in confident and prepared. He’ll be even more confident and better prepared if they fight again. I was very impressed by Lopez and he deserved to win.

Was this a bad night for boxing, in regards to bringing in new fans? Nothing to do with winners and losers but looking at how things played out in regards to what we expected for the major storylines, and if you were a casual or new fan this comes off as a major disappointment

1- Lomachenko: What we were sold- A master artist in the ring who would wow us with movement and angles. What we got- An older fighter who spent the first half of the fight doing nothing and not allowing there to be much action.

2- Lopez: What we were sold- A young knockout artist who would have to go for the KO. What we got- A lankier fighter who used his reach to win from the outside (may not have been his fault, but still what we got).

3- Berlanga: What we were sold- 14-0 with all first round KOs. What we got- the ref stopping the fight without the opponent hitting the deck or taking more than a few punches (once again probably a smart stop, but just saying what happened).

Mix in the ridiculous scorecard (which plagues boxing) and the all over the place announcing, and its as if boxing can't get out of its own way on its biggest stage.

Only if you believed all that.

Yesterday was a great night for boxing though.

Why, whats wrong with my questions? I enjoyed the fights, but if you were a casual who was turning in for what was being sold then you couldve been let down. And thus boxing loses on possible fans.

Doesn't surprise me. Loma hasn't looked good at lightweight. Campbell was causing him problems. Should go back down a division.

On the other hand this Lopez guy has only had 16 fights and is about 12 years old. Loma should have done a lot better.

I feel so vindicated in predicting this on here when Teo beat Commey so impressively,I was ridiculed for having the audacity to say

"Teo will be Lomas 1st truly elite worthy rival test that if he wins will immortalize him as having finally lived up to the extreme hype,If he wins I will forever consider Loma the truth & admit to being ****** for doubting him"

but I was flamed incessantly for it,& was told Teo is a bum who will get kod & who is actually duckin loma.
