    Lopez 23 - Canelo 23 ???

So who else can recall how a "certain group" made a case that Saul Alvarez was too young, too green to fight a 35 year old Floyd Mayweather? Floyd so thoroughly defeated Saul that excuses still continue to this day.

Lopez is likewise 23 years old and about to fight the current P4P champion Loma, who like Floyd is in his 30's. So where is all the crying, complaining, and excuse making...those arguing that this is unfair, that Lopez is too young, too green? All I see posted on this forum are "best fight of the year" statements... So do the excuses come before or after Loma schools him?

Objectively with Loma and Mayweather it is not the age gap it is the skill gap that you should be focused on yet that gets swept under the rug when the results are in.

I'm specifically addressing the excuse makers, do you see any objections currently? After the fight they will restructure the story to not give Loma credit. I'm just calling then before the story of tonight.

Lopez isn't getting drained down to a catchweight.

It seems to me Canelos loss to Mayweather was a win in it's own right cause were still talking about it. The same can go for Lopez later down the road IF he loses tonight. I personally am picking Lopez for the knockout.

Canelo wasn’t green and neither is Lopez. No world champion is a green fighter. Anyone calling them green DKSAB or has never stepped in a boxing gym in their life.

Green refers to inexperience. If Canelo had the ring IQ he had today when he fought Floyd it’d be a different story. Just like a 2015 version of Floyd would’ve had fancier defense and a better compubox against DLH. Just like Michael Jordan’s post fade away jumper wasn’t displayed in his early years in the NBA. Mike’s post career perimeter shooting was a different class in itself.

So Green exists. Mike wouldn’t have been doing fade away jumpers for fun during championship games in his youth, he relied on speed to get to the rim. Select punches get better as you age, particularly from world class elite fighters. Welcome to Boxing

Canelo was not green but he certainly was not prime. To beat Mayweather in his prime years it was going to take someone with damn near a decades worth of championship experience, which is what Canelo basically has now. It is more a testament to how great Mayweather was than anything else.

I do not feel that Lomachenko is where Mayweather was at in terms of overall skill, so I feel Teofimo has a good shot to pull it off even though he is at least four years from reaching his prime. But he does not have four years the same way Canelo did not have four years to wait because of size difference (eventual weight gain) and age difference.
