Look boxing's not technically healthy for anybody, even guys in their 20s & 30s, but some guys have managed to get in and out with their marbles in tact, Andre Ward & Sugar Ray Leonard come to mind, but there's no way fighting in your 50s isn't going to put you in a coma or something.

I wish brother all the best, but he should be putting that energy into training the next generation of fighters

Cris Byrd one of the most underrated boxers in history. Great defense, great skill but just small for a heavyweight.

Had in fight in a era with smaller heavyweights (40s 50s 60s 70s) people would be calling him one of the greatest ever

This is where sanctioning bodies need to step in and push for seriously stringent medical grounds to block him. He should not be anywhere near a boxing ring at this stage in his life.

            I do remember that..

Shaun "Blade George" did him in.

Very next fight, Shaun George got done in.

Like Tyson, it's great to be in great shape at 50, 54 but able to box with the younglings, it is not great for your body

He actually beat some good HWs & had a few draws too against 240lbs+ guys like Golota & McCline

                    let me get this straight,

                    he has

                    - health problems
                    - pain
                    - nerve damage

                    from "fighting above his weight"

and the solution is to return to boxing as a middle weight at 50 years old?

we know the real reason is he must need money

I'm a big Byrd fan so I'm rooting for him doing something fooking crazy with this comeback, but it seems so unlikely & like a bad idea. He's 50. He's not fought in 11 years & hasn't had a notable W in 15 years. He's got both his hips replaced.

I'm sure he feels good now & he looks in good shape. But boxing ain't for him no more. He needs to create some Michael Olijide boxercize kinda thing or something. Start a cbd company or something.
And both shoulders. He has more after-market parts than the bionic man. At 50 years old he must have a death wish if he wants to box.
