I don't agree with Rigo's take on the fight.
But this is what I've been saying to Loma fanboys who insist we should count the Rigo win. It was a farce of a weight mismatch:
"I don't land on that Lomachenko list [of top fighters he's beaten], because I'm actually an 118-pounder and he was a 130-pounder," Rigondeaux added.
But wait, wasn't that pretty much considered a 50/50 fight at the time?
No, not in your opinion? Oh, okay then. We will just ignore it then. Just because. Just for fun. Just because it was so very one sided. Makes senseComment

"But the difference in weight - the Cuban had to climb two divisions - proved to be too much and Rigondeaux could barely do anything against Lomachenko before finishing his performance in the sixth round due to a hand injury -"
Well normally I would agree but it was not like Loma was landing power shots on Rigo and the power difference was visible. Loma purposely out boxed Rigo without having to use his size as an advantage. Rigo was also the one calling for the fight and it was not Loma's fault that Rigo finally agreed to the fight AFTER Loma moved up.Comment

I don't count the Rigo win much because of the size difference but regardless, Rigo should have shown some skills to give Loma something to deal with or look at. Loma literally had nothing bother him in that fight.
If Rigo is saying this, it is because he's sparred with Teo and knows something. They're levels and he probably doesn't think Teo is at the level that Loma brought to him, weight aside.
He couldn't do that and Loma was the reason for that.
In my mind, that was really the super bowl of amateur greats and Loma proved who the real GOAT amateur is/was.Comment

Not sure about the Canelo example either. Canelo wasn't anything at 175. Wasn't Kovalev some kinda of a champion there? In both these cases, none of the people supposed to be at a disadvantage is moving up, unlike Loma-Rigo.
Rigo Loma was a farce.Last edited by BoxingIsGreat; 10-14-2020, 02:21 PM.Comment
